Back still very vulnerable, but took 2 ibuprofen and decided to see how it went on the Brown course (before I get too old in four weeks time). Failing eyes took a wee while to identify the triangle ... then the mud began. 1 was easy, and so was 2 but I rushed exit from control, ended up the wrong side of two big marshes and needed a 2 minute detour. That was worst mistake though. Hesitant to 5 through indecision about route, but enjoyed long leg to 6 running through the muddy open with the wind behind. Secure if steady though 7 to 9, then compass leg to 10 went ok too. Used the road to get to 11 and provide a good running surface to 13, and stuck to ride (v muddy) for 15. Straight for 16 and 17 was good, and would have been for 18, but I went round. Average result, given that nav was ok-ish, but I'm just not really attacking courses at the moment in the way you need to, as I don't feel strong. Enjoyed the course and area though.

Couldn't sleep, so decided to get up early and cycle. Felt generally alright, thank goodness. Dark though.
