Orienteering race (Capite and Frenchlands Wo) 1:09:31 [4] *** 8.6 km (8:05 / km) +105m 7:37 / km

Given that I couldn't walk last Sunday, I suppose I should be glad I managed to complete the Brown course today. Perhaps I should have been on the Green though. My left calf and ankle were dodgy from the start, and 40 minutes in the calf was a serious handicap. When I looked ahead and saw the long legs to 17 and 19 my heart sank a bit. I'd never have considered race-running on that niggle, but with orienteering we seem to think it's ok? Ah well, it's a lot better now than it was a week ago so, hopefully, recovery continues. The undergrowth and brambles weren't as bad as I'd feared, but there was, inevitably, a lot of track running. I lost time at 8 after playing safe and still looking in the wrong place. I had company from 3 and took until 13 to drop him, but by now was hobbling badly. This must have skewed my judgement leaving 16 as I missed a perfectly good route choice and went 'round the Wrekin' a bit instead. Probably only lost a few minutes to mistakes, but definitely lost several more to injury.
