Too much floundering to be fun. Frustrating when I'm running so well. Ah well, that's orienteering. This was properly technical, the planner right on top of his game and throwing in several longer legs of mind-blowing complexity. I knew straight would never be best but I often did it because it took too long trying to work out a better route. Straight meant tussocks, brambles, gorse thickets, and marshes muddy marshes everywhere! Within about 20 yards of the start! I reckon I totalled almost 10 mins of mistakes, but I bet error-free runs were non-existent. However, I should have gone the right way to 2 and avoided the needless oob en route to 7. Leg 9 was the killer and I opted for a sensible path run, but it was so muddy I got pissed off and never bothered with attack point. Two minutes wasted. Floundered around in rough vicinity of 16 and 17 (no plan!) and got copses confused at 19 trying to overtake someone. It was freezing and rainy, but I'll take heart from the physical fitness I felt.
