Trail race race (Roundhill Romp) 40:21 [5] 8.5 km (4:45 / km) +170m 4:19 / km
Another tick on the wsfrl list. Perfect evening for it too, bit warm for sleeves. Started steady and just did my own thing through the switchbacks round the fields. Didn't mind the climb to begin with, but it went on so long and was so steep in places I took the advice of the sign saying 'There's no shame in walking!' Walking was slower than running, but it enabled you to hoard a precious bit of energy for what you still had to do. Didn't enjoy the single track near the top as I couldn't always see where I was putting my feet, but overtook quite a few better climbers on the SDW bit and lined up SK about three places in front. Hated the single track with tree roots but LOVED the superfast downhill sections and just went for it. Was catching SK near the bottom, then he looked behind, saw me, and sprinted the final taped section. I wasn't up for a fight. Was worried about nutrition but felt pretty good.
