Orienteering race (Concorde Chase, Yateley) 1:13:54 [4] *** 10.4 km (7:06 / km) +150m 6:38 / km
spiked:22/23c

Have decided to start treating O races the way I did road races, when I was forever after a pb, ie seriously. That means tackling them properly, so the result (time and place) is a respectable one, and one that can be built on going forward. So I skipped the Saturday SOG to watch Lucy's cross country in Stanmer Park, then made sure we were in plenty of time for me to prepare mentally. Worked out where 1 was in the start lane and was right, and spiked that, and thought that's a good start, keep it up. Took time at the road crossing to plan the long leg to 5 and realised I was in for a lot of track and path running. No excuse for going wrong then. Nearly fluffed 7 because I couldn't find a mapped path, but leaving 10 realised this was all pretty easy actually. Caught quite a few people climbing to 12 and had them on my tail for most of the rest of the course. Blanked it out and stayed in my bubble. Overshot 15 and was right at 18 but lost no more than a few seconds anywhere so finished with good mins/k and a good position. Was a bit boring but it is the result that counts.
