Orienteering (MVL West Walk North) 25:05 [4] *** 2.9 km (8:39 / km) +55m 7:54 / km
spiked:4/7c

Control cards, pin punches, stopwatch, the good old days. Made a bit of a mess of attacking 5 and things were made much worse by the dense holly and brambles. Left path too early for 6 and slightly too late for 7.

Orienteering (West Walk) 29:39 [3] 4.1 km (7:14 / km) +65m 6:42 / km

Went round the red course after in the opposite direction. Mostly pleasant path running but cut across between 6 and 7 and came out bang on the flag. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would as found all the controls in the right places and wasn't attacked too much by the vegetation.

Walk (Punchbowl Marathon) 13:00:00 [3] 62.5 km (12:29 / km)

Two laps of the PBM circuit, although slightly less than 40 miles as I missed the out and back to Tilford on the second lap, but did divert on the first lap to a new bridge over the A3. Walked about as fast as I could all day as I wanted to see how much ground I could cover. Felt alright at the end apart from badly blistered feet, caused by the soft sand on Hankley Common getting inside my trainers and thin socks and acting like a sort of abrasive. I was lucky the light rain wasn't heavier, as wet feet would have been likely to blister even more badly. Great scenery, and doing laps meant I didn't have to carry water/so much food.
