Orienteering 35:00 [2]
shoes: Montrail Masochist

Precision compass work. Good stuff actually, started out pretty rough but eventually started doing well with adjusting to terrain.
1 PM

Orienteering 44:00 [4] 4.6 km (9:34 / km)
shoes: Icebugs

Memory intervals, had 20 seconds to look at map and head to point. For the most part ok, one point was a slopfest. Rembered LTC Turbyfill's NY->Boulder analogy.
8 PM

Orienteering 48:20 [5] 4.3 km (11:14 / km)
shoes: Icebugs

Night O, made one knuckleheaded decision to cut through the green in the campsite instead of just sticking to the trail, killed a couple of minutes for sure.

Swimming 40:00 [3]

Swimming in the wave pool. Worked on bobbing, ditching, etc. some more.
4 PM

Running 5:06 [1] 0.55 mi (9:16 / mi)
shoes: Montrail Masochist

Jog up to Jewish Chapel

Running 37:12 [5] 2.25 mi (16:32 / mi)
shoes: Montrail Masochist

"Woods" Intervals.

Ran from the water tower at Delafield to the one at Fort Putnam 6 times and then back down, wait 30 seconds and go again. Absolute smoker however I don't think it accomplished the intent of woods training. Sure it was a hill worker that burned the legs and lungs but we were essentially running up a trail (and if it wasn't one when we started it is now) and it's pretty easy to do micro route selection when you're walking as everybody not named Schroeder, McCormick or Bangert had to do.

To conclude, there's no need to combine the two workouts. If we do hills we might as well do them on pavement so we can focus on the fitness piece and if we do woods we should conduct them in an area with negligible climb in order to focus on technical aspects. You can only sprint up the hill and over the rocks so fast...

Swimming 40:00 [3]

More ACUs, gear ditching, bobbing etc.

Also learned to inflate ACUs, it works!
4 PM

Running long 1:34:10 [4] 11.23 mi (8:23 / mi)
ahr:172 max:184 shoes: Brooks Trance 10 II

Suicide run. Literally. Ran to the "Life is worth living" sign at BMB.

Note

Lower Back still bothering me, if this persists I'll go see a trainer. Would go tomorrow but West Point makes it impossible to take care of oneself physically or medically like this with all the formations, classes, and stuff... logic prevails.
