Perfect weather for my first canal skate. The ice had some rough spots and a section was closed but I had fun working on the skate-O for the SE end. Chatted to two local vendors about sponsoring and/or providing answers to clues. They thought it would be fun but they can't confirm when they will be open or have the staff to respond to enquiries. So will have to stick to visual clues.
First time I completed the 5k Revelstoke look since the injection. Took it relatively easy, hip is stiff but ok. Shovelled the bit of snow off 3 driveways and a good stretch afterwards. Saw 161 for the first time since Xmas.
Short walk to stretch my legs. Was mild and traffic free until some guy nearly ran me over at the last intersection. I was bracing to leap up onto his hood when he finally noticed me.
Will walk in the daylight from now on.
Hip still sore form Friday's injection so I took it easy and doubled back half way around Revelstoke. Nice and mild, wished I could have done more.
Good stretch and strength afterwards.
Started off fairly briskly but the right adductor was really sore so I had to slow down. The 70 minute loop took 10 minutes longer. Good stretch afterwards. Feels ok this morning.
Short but beautiful ski at Nakkertok with Mumsey. Hip really bothered me until I warmed up. Could have done more but my back will be sore enough from the double-poling. Waxing was variable between the woods and the bright sunshine-y areas.
Good brisk walk around Revelstoke in the soft snow. The poor footing was hard on the hip and later I felt a strong spasm during dinner. Hadn't had one like that in a long time. Good stretch but I guess I need to do more for the adductors.
After 2 days of slacking off except for a few stretches and a walk to the store, I tried to keep a steady brisk pace throughout. worked ok except for a couple of 1 minute slow-downs to ease the cramps.
Tried to keep it brisk. Worked ok until the last 10 minutes when I started to stiffen up. Should have worn the running shoes. The brisk walk on hard soles hurts the shins and back.
reasonably brisk walk around Revelstoke loop. Back was quite sore this morning but it loosened up during the day. It felt OK during walk and the adductors held out. Don't know if I am ready for another ski though. Maybe a gentle ski at Mooney's tomorrow.
Good stretch after the walk and some upper body strength work.
Quick ski at Mooney's Bay on the no-wax skis. The skis worked well but my quads complained from the start. Now - a few hours later - I am really stiff in my back and adductors. I really didn't ski that hard!
