Very pleasant cycle downtown to check out the Jazz festival. Not much going on at the festival but plenty of people watching as the downtown gets ready for Canada Day. Felt good the whole ride but was gentle on the pedals.
Set up and delivered a clinic for the CAC summer social in VM Park. Nice weather for a change and fun to do. Including picking up the markers, I had been on my feet for 5 or so hours in the humidity. Was pretty zonked when I got home and 4 pounds lighter than yesterday. So I re-hydrated quite a bit at the evening street party. : )
Good day up on the ridge - but the woods are getting wetter instead of dryer. Very sceptical about some of the indistinct marsh I add as they may not be perceivable in a dry fall season.
Hip was pretty good but I did avoid any big step-ups.
Nice easy ride between thunderstorms to the Jazz festival and back. No concert, just a band setting up for the evening performance.
Hip was OK. Adds were a little jumpy when I put too much pressure on the pedals. Finally can say the hip is feeling better since the injection.
First day of the dragon boat festival. Needed an Advil to kill the ache. Managed to stretch out with the team before the races. The hardest part of the race was the big step out of the boat onto the dock. The Wild Women had one of there best races in years in the afternoon even though I couldn't keep the boat off the first lane buoy in the strong side wind.
In the women's B final to-morrow. We can win it!
After almost a week layoff since the hip injection, it was good to get out in the woods again. Took it easy but probably stayed out too long. Was pretty sore when I got back to the car.
Spent most of the mapping day on the beautiful property at Spence's. Forest to the north was kinda thick but the rest was very nice. Not a lot of strong features but that's true of the whole area.
Warm and buggy day on the ridge. Spent too much time on a thick ridge but popped out into some nicer woods. In the middle of nowhere, I looked out over a small lake to see a canoe beached on the opposite shore. Must be a trail somewhere. Maybe I will check it out and go for a paddle next time.
Drizzly day and cold to down to the basement where I can crank up the music and watch the TV with captions. Time really flies.
Dragon boating in the rain to-night. Yuck!
Nice and cool in the morning but the bugs started bugging in the afternoon.
Worked my way around two small lakes but the forest was very thick.
Stressed my adductor climbing some rocks but it feels OK now. Gotta stop and stretch more often.
