XC Skiing 3:30:00 [1]

Easy skiing setting up controls for to-morrow's ski-O. Still feeling like I am getting a cold. Really bagged this evening. Hip hit me with a couple of spasms early on but it seemed to warm up - and I slowed down. -5C, sunny and excellent trail conditions. I wonder who will show up to-morrow?

XC Skiing 50:00 [1]

Easy ski checking out the south end of the Nakkertok map. Glad I did. They have groomed an old section of trail #2 that they said they were abandoning and it was removed from the map 2 years ago. Only found it because I wanted to get out the wind and into the woods.
Feeling like I am fighting a cold or something. Taking it easy as the week-end is going to be really busy.

Note

I will offer up my suffering on the masseurs table as a contribution to my training. : ) Took him no time to zero in on the knots in my Adductors. And man, did it hurt. Fell off the diet wagon last night with wine and pizza but it was soooo good!
Back on the ski trails tomorrow if the weather holds.

XC Skiing 2:20:00 [1]

Nice easy ski with Mumsey and Linda C. checking the map for the ski-O on Sunday. Conditions are perfect. Created a couple of cut throughs in thigh deep snow. Cold but fun.
Hip started to complain early on but if I kept my stride short it was OK.

Stationary Bike 35:00 [2]

After 4 weeks on holiday it's time to get back into a routine. Even with all the hiking and kayaking I gained 4 pounds. Too much lamb and gravy and potatoes, kumeras to be precise. And maybe too much wine?
Anyway have lost a couple of pounds already and heading down to 156. That's the plan.
Good stretch tonight and the hip feels ok.

Walking 1:20:00 [1]

Nice walk through the city of Nelson and up to the marker at the "Centre of NZ". Met a couple from Westboro on the way back. Small world. After all that exercise we stuffed ourselves at a good Indian restaurant in town. Net daily calorie gain again!

Walking 1:00:00 [1]

Flew to Nelson at noon and then spent the rest of the day exploring the town. Lots of interesting shops and sights. Still feeling bloated after gorging ourselves yesterday. When will we learn?

Walking 30:00 [1]

Only had time for a brief walk along the river in between high tea and a bar-b-que. Afraid of scales right now.
Been a good week for lots of gentle exercise. Just gotta relent on the eating part.

Walking 1:30:00 [1]

Actually over 2 hours on my feet exploring Hamilton gardens with Glo, Marion, and Grant making up a photo-O on an old map. We stopped often and took dozens of pictures. Another beautiful day in NZ!

Note

Lots of walking around the botanical gardens in Hamilton, NZ. Incredible exhibitions of international and historical garden designs. They can grow anything in this climate - tropical plants and cold weather varieties. One section had every citrus tree that I could think of growing virtually side by side. The vegetable gardens are growing their second crops of carrots, onions, etc. Was chased out by the rain.
What a fantastic sprint map it would make worth all the hedges, walls, flower beds, and topography. Will have to research the local club to see if there is a map.
