XC Skiing 3:10:00 [1]

Good conditions at Nakkertok while Glo and I set up the controls for Sunday's ski-O. Got a little more exercise than I planned as I "lost" Mumsy on the way down to the Pooch Loop and had to double all the way back to mid map and then back again to find her. Maybe a walkie-talkie would have helped.

Stationary Bike 50:00 [2]

Good spin up in zone 2 for most of the session. It was -20C outside with the wind chill so a planned skate will have to wait.

Tuesday Feb 25, 2014 #

Walking 52:00 [1]

Brisk walk around Revelstoke in the cold air. Good stretch and strength afterwards. Weight back up to 160 - not enough exercise to burn up the yummy calories!

Monday Feb 24, 2014 #

Stationary Bike 15:00 [2]

Just a warm-up for some stretch and strength - but not much of that either.

Sunday Feb 23, 2014 #

Walking 40:00 [1]

Tried for a 60 minute walk with Mumsey along the canal but the path was flooded or solid ice. So we turned back early. Very lazy day watching the Olympics.

Orienteering 20:00 [1]

Fun indoor-O at the Nick Smith centre in Arnprior. Great obstacle/feature set-up by Jeff & Jennie. Embarrassed myself in the semi-final with two wrong-way butterfly loop mistakes. Great training for sprint events, mentally very challenging.

Friday Feb 21, 2014 #

Stationary Bike 40:00 [2]

Quick spin on the bike and then some stretch & strength.

Thursday Feb 20, 2014 #

Skating - canal 1:03:00 [1]

Nice skate with Mumsey before the ice deteriorates from the mild weather. Back and hip a little sore but the old hip has survived the skating season much better than I expected. That's 15 skates this season which must be the best in over 5 years.

Skating - canal 1:03:15 [2]

Probably the last chance for a canal skate with a thaw coming up. Wanted to break the 1 hour barrier "in comfort" but it wasn't to be. The ice was slow but with a sunny -1C it was still very good. Stretch & strength afterwards.

Tuesday Feb 18, 2014 #

Walking 54:00 [1]

Revelstoke loop again. Another night fighting sleep. Back sore too but I don't know from what. Stretched a lot after the walk.

Monday Feb 17, 2014 #

Walking 52:00 [1]

Revelstoke loop on a cold afternoon. Feeling tired all day. Poor sleep last night.

Sunday Feb 16, 2014 #

Skating - canal 1:04:19 [2] 15.8 km (4:04 / km)

Pushed as hard as I could with out losing my breathing trying to get to the 60 minute barrier. Too many people at the NAC end of the canal to keep any pace and too windy on the way back. Cold and sunny with reasonably good ice - but not as good as yesterday.

Saturday Feb 15, 2014 #

Skating - canal 1:00:00 [1]

Easy skate with Mumsey looking for Bert & Odile's party people. Never found them until we got to the party. Perfect weather and ~20,000 people. Couldn't move past 5th avenue. Burned 500 calories on the skate. Ate 1000 at the party. Gotta lower my caloric party/playtime ratio!

XC Skiing 2:00:00 [1]

Nice ski with Mumsey at Nakkertok checking out the back trails for the Ski-O. The snowshoe trails have been well used so they are just a deep rut - not conducive to fun skiing. Nice new network down by the farm where I will put in a bunch of butterfly loops.

Wednesday Feb 12, 2014 #

Walking 52:00 [1]

Another 5K Revelstoke loop in very nice weather. Had planned to ski but the contractors for the blinds only arrived at 1. Will do a long ski to-morrow.
15 min. stretch & strength.

Tuesday Feb 11, 2014 #

Walking 53:00 [1]

Very cold so I wasn't enticed to hit the ski slopes or canal. So a Revelstoke 5K walk and a good stretch was the best option.

Monday Feb 10, 2014 #

Skating - canal 1:20:00 [1]

Easy skate on the canal with Mumsy looking for the Skate-O clues. Very windy coming back to the lake.

Sunday Feb 9, 2014 #

Stationary Bike 1:00:00 [2]

Good sweaty spin watching the Olympic recap. Hip not bothered - just a little stiff in the glutes. 15 minute strength and strength afterwards.

Saturday Feb 8, 2014 #

Skating - canal 1:28:00 [1] 16.0 km (5:30 / km)

Good skate vetting the Skate-O. Hip was pretty sore by the end. Could hardly get through the masses at the NCC end of the canal with all the people out enjoying a perfect day on the canal. -6C, sunny, virtually no wind

Thursday Feb 6, 2014 #

Skating - canal 1:37:00 [2]

The canal was in good shape so I finalized the skate-O map and clues. A hard cold skate back to Dows lake made it into a workout. Hip was very sore so I quit before heading to very end of the canal at Hartwell.

Wednesday Feb 5, 2014 #

Walking 30:00 [1]

Feeling tired so I procrastinated all day so a short but brisk walk for fresh air was my only exercise. Damp and very cold weather not very motivating.

Tuesday Feb 4, 2014 #

XC Skiing 1:30:00 [2]

Beautiful ski up at Nakkertok with Mumsy and Rob. Energy level was not super but the hips were fine. Could have gone longer but probably good to stop and enjoy the rest of the day.

Monday Feb 3, 2014 #

Skating - canal 2:05:00 [1] 16.5 km (7:35 / km)

The canal was in good shape and the weather was nice so I updated the winter canal map and started to set-up a new canal-O. More of a treasure hunt. I spoke with one vendor at Laurier Ave. and he was happy to participate in the fun.
I will try to find another vendor to "hide" a clue at the other end of the canal.
Hip/quad was not happy at the start but I seemed to loosen up. Stiff now - gotta stretch!

Sunday Feb 2, 2014 #

Note

Course control at the XC ski Easterns at Nakkertok. Lots of standing around but it was a nice day and fun to watch the kids and yak with the other marshals.

Saturday Feb 1, 2014 #

Skating - canal 30:00 [1]

Skating around and watching the first leg of the winter triathlon. Robbie hung in with the main pack and had a good transition to the skis.

Walking 30:00 [1]

Made my own transition to boots to catch Robbie on the ski loop. Thought he was second but I missed the first two about a minute ahead at the transition to running.
Could have survived the skating and skiing myself but not the running. Am tired as it is with only active spectating!
