Orienteering race 45:48 [4] 5.79 km (7:55 / km) +115m 7:12 / km

NOY 8 Hard Medium at Barnsley.

No big errors, sloppy on a few, not fast enough to be near O-ing or Simon G.

1. E along track across easements, compass straight to control, Tinytoes close to control so a bit of a guide.
2. Compass straight.
3. Along minor track a little, straight, cross major track, follow minor track around to visible control.
4. W of green, straight to major track junction, follow minor tracks.
5. Follow tracks on N side of watercourse. S probably would have been better option.
6. Track across creek, didn't concentrate on tracks and ended up heading straight through tea tree, through white gap and into creek and control.
7. Straight, across major track, on to minor track, ran a bit past control on S and had to back track.
8. Straight but tracks didn't match what was thinking, through to creek.
9. Straightish, noting tracks as crossed, S of green near control, bit further S than expecting, hit track, had to head N.
10. Angled down to major track, followed to easement, straight across easements and erosion ditch, tracks around to control.
11. Tracks out and up past erosion ditch, angle across easements, up easement to major track, straightish towards hill top, picked up tracks on straightish line.
12. Straight, knee not happy with the steeper downhill.
13. Navigated to bend in red line, couldn't understand why control number at that point didn't match, then went to the rest of the way, picking up minor track.
14. Across creek, along S side, across easements, around light green on tracks when on line to control.

Easy ride around Grafton tracks with Greg. Breaking up the drive home. Morning tea break. Bit sticky from a morning shower. Greg tired out quickly. My leg feeling the weekends racing as well.

Afternoon break from driving at Kiwarrak. Tracks I rode were looking great, assume they have been cleaning up for next weekends race. Forest has had a hazard reduction burn and looks good as well.
