Normal Orienteering race (Scottish 6 day, final day) 1:08:45 [3] ***
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

2nd good run of the week - 8th overall for the day and 1st slowie, Harold and Paul about six min down.

Seems I like moorland racing - was pretty clean throughout but was tentative so not running full out and made a 2min error on 9 through concentration loss - nearly erred on 14, 5 from the end again, but held it together.

Good finish for the week 15th overall one place behind Laurence and 2 behind Paul.

Good week

Normal Orienteering race (Scottish 6, Day 5 ) 1:33:01 [3] ***
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

Annoying run again - lost 10 min on two controls just short of the finish cost me about 10 places - I am rubbish :-(

Will need to analyse the timings of this, do I have a point in the race where my mind switches off, either time wise or a point out from the finish where I start thinking about finishing? Need to fix this as it's cost me dear two days in a row...

Have snook past Ollie and Ed just, but Pauls awesome run has put him too far in front...

Could do with more competing at this level I think to move forward...

Normal Orienteering race (Scottish day 4 - Torintur) 1:42:16 [4] ***
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

Wet wet wet

Feeling weak today and this is reflected in the speed on the hills today - but seems like everyone did.

Was 5min up on Paul (1st slowie today) at 15 but managed to lose 7min over the last 7 controls to come in 2min astray with Ollie and Ed coming in the same min as Paul just in front.

Silly errors brought on by tiredness - not good enough but a low twenties position is still acceptable, but need good runs tomorrow and Friday if I'm going to beat Ed and Ollie overall.

Nav is improving though so should be pleased I suppose.

Sprint Orienteering race 21:47 [3] ***
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

Fun event could easily have knocked off 2 min at least, was struggling with the scale though 1:4 is not something I'm used to.

34th

Glad I did though - completely disorganised though full leg cover mandatory so I ran it in boardies...

Normal Orienteering race 1:14:36 [3] ***
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

Boom! 8th place and 2nd Brit - now that's more like it - beat Mr Nixon by 2seconds, which was basically the 3secs I took out of him on the run in.... Goes to show Paul that even if your no longer in the race it's still worth pushing the run in!

So the race, took it easy from the start just concentrating on staying focussed was a bit low for 1 but knew exactly where I was so gave me confidence, much better than the last two days. This is where I Took a big chink out of the other boys as they all fluffed it. Ran fairly well If slow to 5 big contour features helping my movement.

Saw Ollie at 5 which gave me a boost - 6 min made up, nearly lost focus but managed to move past him and get back on it.

Fairly clean then few wobbles but ok, brain fart at 12 but only lost a min or so - went static as was terrified of the headless chicken of the previous two days... Recovered ok then but fluffed 14 where unconfidence made me hestitate and should have just committed as I knew where I was Harold appeared here 16min made up.

Clean but slow to 17 where I caught Ollie again - not sure where he got back

Note

Past me, but retook him and came in about 2 min up

Run in was ok- didn't the next round Alex and evan beat me by a second... And Ed stott took me by 2!

Happy

Normal Orienteering race (Scottish day 2) 1:42:03 [4] ****
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

Even worse than yesterday, if that's possible!!

After analysing splits actually though was generally in the game apart. From when I went wrong on the three I went wrong on I lost about ten minutes on each - which is frustrating as again 10 min down on Paul!!!!

Just don't seem to be able to hold to the terrain!

This has gone from trying to win the competition to just having one good run......

Note

On the upside made it through to round two of the SLOW run-in competition, dead heat with Mr Stott at 32 seconds with fastest time of the day also shared with Evan who eliminated Paul N.

Drawn against Ollie with a rematch against Ed tomorrow so all to play for!

Normal Orienteering race (Scottish six day 1) 1:24:19 [3] ***
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

Not a good day in the office, made a hesitant start to 1 and didn't feel that physically ready.... Then made a 90 degree error out of one - use the bloody compass.

Ok thenish bit slow through to 5, think I picked a good route to 6 stayed low and dreamed it, then blew 7 knew where it was just minced around for 3-4 min, Ball caught me here, but I stayed ahead till 10 when my nab let me down again and I minced around the hillside for 5 min letting him past me. Was silly really as could have walked intuit faster.

Clean then to 12 with a nice descent to the forest where I made the major mistake of the dayand just couldn't relocate, a good 10 min lost here. Awesome route to 14 though, contoured round and spiked a treat. Weak route to 15 but clean and then easy last two to finish.

Run in was ok small child and Heather were in the way so not as fast as it could have been, knockout comp starts tomorrow.

Came in 26th which is pathetic, 8 min down on Nixon and 4 on Ollie everyone else who matters between them, but a cleaner run would have held it, llewellyn won in 56ish

Must do better
