Orienteering race 2:44:50 [3] ****
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s
Absolutely bolloxed after my first outing in a forest for a while!
Was feeling my legs before I'd even started today - yesterday took a lot out of me and it was raining! Who likes traditional Orienteering honestly?
Obviously got myself in the wrong headspace for this race today as took very tentative roundabout routes to the majority of controls, but was in control for the most of it - ran out of juice towards the end and had been taking it pretty steady throughout so need to work on my stamina again as it seems to have slipped...
Did manage to pick it up though when I jumped on the Eddie and Ben Stevens train but realised I hadn't looked at the map once while I was tucked behind them for two controls, so dropped off the back to focus on the long leg, cause if they'd got away from me I'd have been screwed.
Messed up due to fatigue 3 controls from the end, but happy to finish another elite course - even if I was pretty close to the bottom (beta Lost and HWW who gave up so that's something)
Was pretty cold at the end and fingers weren't working so couldn't even do my trousers up or put my socks on - dramas
Enjoyed though even caught myself smiling once or twice!
NB: just reviewed splits browser and was never really in the race, could have picked up a few spots, but not really in the same race as those above me, but was clear of those behind me for the whoel race - question is do I continue to run Elite in the forest just cause I can, or step back down a level so its actually competitive?
