Cracking race
Tried to get my head down at about 2300hrs knowing I'd have to get up in the early hours to run.
Not to be through a combination of SHUOCs quiet starting horn, Rhesus texting me while following leg 1 online in the legs and Nick Taylor coming back to the tent way over excited about the GPS tracking of leg one - I couldn't help myself so got up to watch the start of the B Race.
And that was the end of sleep for me, very addictive watching the GPS and tracking the team movements as they hit each of the radio controls.
Then for my run Leg 5 for the 1st team on the A - A reinstatement after my two years in the wild after my previous outing bewign so disatarous.
Dimitry brought the team in just shy of the BOK and SYO 2nd team so went out trying to hold our position - 1st half went quite well, tucke din just behind the SYO guy and spent upto the road crossing taking it in turns to hit the control - thus removing the hesitation I normally have at this stage - this ended when I got cocky and thought I'd drop the Irish International in question cause he was slowing down a bit and blew Cntrl 16 - the paths finally outfoxed me after being warned about them for the whole night - after that ran a bit hesitanmtly not being able to afford any more errors, but ended up losing approx 16min overall due to speed/mistakes.... meaning BAOC gained 8 min on us overall.
Howeve rthat said still a damn good race for me and one I'm generally happy with - just need to improve my forest navigation as speed is coming.
