Orienteering - hard race 33:00 [4]
shoes: Inov-8 X Talon 210 May 2019

BOC relay leg 3

Nice position going out after Kim and Mary made the job fairly straightforward on paper but it was one of those stressy areas. Not so good legs on today but if i want to get properly race fit again i need to push hard on days like this. worked well through first half but then quite a convoluted bit after that and i had trouble keeping touch. a bit hesitant and lost some of the rhythm (saw Spongey having the same kind of time which stopped me getting too stressed about it haha!) and then one bigger mistake where i let the thicket mapping get to me a bit (there wasnt the wall of impenetrable stuff to follow that i imagined from the map and i overshot). about a minute. again it could have been much worse, there were plenty of people looking quite lost, managed to sort it out without panicking so it was better than tio in that respect.

actually quite enjoyed the last running bit, i was alone and had to try to make myself push round the easy controls, it was like the end of a woc long distance. and we could bring home the trophy! trying to work out how many times the household has won it. can't remember if i was in any of the CLOK or EUOC teams.

Orienteering - hard race 15:00 [4]
shoes: Inov-8 X Talon 210 May 2019

What happens if you get fitter but dont train sprint in 6 months?

God for someone who call themselves an okay orienteer i was shite. But i did find something i didn't know existed - never knew x Talon 210 was a thing, or in my size in the sale. Ive been feeling a bit down with x talons recently but tried them and immediately clicked, the best ones since the golden era of the red 190s! So i bought 2 pairs and raced in them straight away yaass.

Small warm up then a bit after with Tessa, and then Rhys aged 10 who left me for dead on the uphills...

Running - hard intervals 15:00 [4]
shoes: Inov-8 X talon November 2018

The 4min/30s/1min/1min session up porter.
V happy with this, good lung workout even if my gears are still a bit limited to get a proper speed variation. couldnt resist taking it up the hill and almost made the top of the Clough. Usual small discomfort but i really feel like it's mostly chronic pain and shoe pressure against my heel bump.
