Orienteering - Bush (NOY1 Fairley Dams) 59:38 [3] 5.1 km (11:42 / km)
13c shoes: Bumblebee Hikers Feb 2014

Hard Medium. Nominal 5.1 km. 13 Controls.
Normal runners still soaked from Friday so wore hikers.
Obviously not designed for running and feet felt very very heavy for duration but they probably helped running through all the slushy mud. Felt like I was going to have massive blisters on left foot but somehow escaped unscathed.
As per splits made mistakes on 3 (too far east so just ran parallel to road until came to it) and 8 (checking out watercourses too early).
Came 13th of 27 so roughly my normal position in the middle of the pack.

Distance and time approximate.
Lynda did her first Hard Medium course solo (starting some time after me) but was sick so was struggling with hills. Rang her when I was finished and she was still on her way to #7 so I elected to meet her at #9 and 'assist/motivate' her back as required. Took me over 17 minutes just to run via tracks out to 9. Remainder of time was walk/jog between controls.

Gardening - Weeding 1:10:00 [1]

8:45 am - 9:55 am.
Weeding driveway to make the house look like someone actually lives here. Ground soaked so ideal time to do it. Will return to this later.

More cooking - date loaf and honey oat bars.
For general consumption over next week rather than freezer.
Checked have all ingredients for spaghetti which I will get to tonight.

Distance a guess.
Along on side of Dora Creek on expedition with twin brother.

Hadn't mowed since 6th March.
Yet again only did the front yard and around the house as the rest of the yard not long enough to make it worthwhile.
Despite the overnight rain managed to not bog lawnmower or dig up too many wheel ruts.

Sweat fest. Soaked by end.

Cooked quick batch of banana choc chip muffins for freezer.
Didn't get to spaghetti as went out 6 pm.
Bought another 9 freezer containers so I can continue to get more organised in advance and stock up more food.

Walk - Street 40:00 [1] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: New Balance Nov 2013

Brief walk where took head torch.
Drizzle turned to rain which turned to totally pouring.
Soaked through by 2 km mark and turned around.
Got very cold very quick and could barely see with water in eyes.
Shoes probably will be still soaked by Sunday event so may have to try the Bumble Bee Hikers instead but not sure how well will run in them.

Cooking night. Restocked freezer with fried rice and mini quiches again.
Repeat cooking something different to stock up freezer on Friday night.

Orienteering - Night (Brickworks Park) 1:07:26 [2] 7.47 km (9:02 / km)

Last Wednesday event of the season. 22 Controls for straight line 4.1 km.
Normally don't do Night-O but paired up with Lynda as she hadn't done one before.
So slower than I would have done but I most probably wouldn't have bothered solo.
Several screw-ups at various controls but OK at majority, discussions about route choices and navigation but no arguments.

Whippersnipping drains, edges and other regrowth areas.

Fallen stick collection until too dark to see.
