Drove down via the new HEX to get there.

I personally found the first 3 courses were very easy and required very little strength and didn't work up much of a sweat. Lots of variety of challenges but all same basic underlying theme. A large number of flying fox type ropes of varying lengths and speeds. The last course required a fair bit of upper body strength and a lot of the steps / logs / platforms were far apart so short people would struggle.

Tread on the hikers helped a lot walking along the wire ropes.

Main issue was the queue. Could only have two people on a platform at a time, and one person doing the activity between platforms so more than half the time was spent waiting or watching others. Skill and strength level of others varied considerably - not that I set any great standard either.

Had no issues at all with heights as was always rigidly secured to completely solid objects or ropes. Upload some photos later. Also a video which shows my complete cat like grace (not).

Walk - Street 1:20:00 [3] 8.0 km (10:00 / km)

Distance approximate. Time approximate.
Walking along the Hunter Expressway between Kurri Kurri and Buchanan Interchanges. Open to the public from 8:30 am - 11:30 am. Open to traffic for first time later today. Jogged approximately 3 km of it.
Thought it might be interesting from an Engineering perspective - answer was no. But filled in part of the morning.
Lots of other people walking, bike riding and roller skating.
9 PM

Note
(sick)

Vomiting up dinner. No idea why. Felt better an hour later once stomach was completely empty.

Orienteering - Park Planning (Walka Water Works) 3:00:00 [1]

11 am - 2 pm
Distributing 34 controls for Park-O Final.
Viola O'Connor volunteered to help and for once I actually accepted someones help. Made it a lot faster as she could get out tethers and locks etc whilst I put the control and flag up. Typically did the controls in groups of 6 or 7 but for the final leg carried 15 which was a BIT much until the weight reduced.
2 PM

Orienteering - Park Planning (Walka Water Works - VEasy) 8:01 [3] 1.4 km (5:44 / km)
shoes: New Balance Nov 2013

Quick lap of the Very Easy (Nominal 1.4 km and 11 Controls) Course to ensure I hadn't stuffed up the positioning or numeric order of any controls.

Orienteering - Park Planning (Walka Water Works - Easy) 18:25 [3] 2.5 km (7:22 / km)
shoes: New Balance Nov 2013

Less quick lap of the Easy (Nominal 2.5 km and 16 Controls) Course to ensure I hadn't stuffed up the positioning or numeric order of any controls.
Getting pretty warm in the middle of the day.

Orienteering - Park Planning (Walka Water Works) 20:00 [1]

Set-up of tables, clocks, signage and other gear. Several seniors arrived 20 minutes early.
3 PM

Orienteering - Park Planning (Walka Water Works) 1:30:00 [1] 3.5 km (25:43 / km)
shoes: New Balance Nov 2013

3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Talking to the '6' seniors who turned up to the Seniors Week Orienteering Event until tinytoes arrived to give them the more detailed run through. They went out in 3 groups and at least one group went out twice.
I did a walking lap of the lake to check the positioning and numeric order of all the remaining Long Course controls (except 2 where I couldn't be bothered).
4 PM

Orienteering - Park (Final - Walka Water Works) 3:30:00 [1]
shoes: New Balance Nov 2013

4:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Standing around watching and talking to competitors after event.

Amylee Robertson had a fall down a rabbit hole or similar and twisted her ankle so retired injured which was unfortunate.

A wide variety of mistakes made that I would never have expected at all.
Some took the bush option 15 to 16, rather than track, which I never would have chosen.
The straight south leg from 16 to 17 caught a number of people going too far west to the wrong bridge.

Will have to check out routegadget to see what people put up.

52 competitors in the Long Course.

16 competitors in the Short Course.

Missed the final presentation as occupied elsewhere.

Had at least 6 people volunteer for control collection which was much appreciated. Then multiple people sorting out stands, flags, locks and tethers. Was getting very dark by the end and anyone that had a mobile telephone with a torch in it was in high demand. Practice for next weeks night event which I am unlikely to attend.

Very glad for this day to be over.

Gym Mayfield - Class Weights 55:00 [4]
weight:80kg

Instructor last week told me to deepen by squats when lifting 35 kg to maximise the affect. Did so today and legs certainly felt the difference.
Chest track at 25 kg still a killer.
Scales flicking between 79.9 kg and 80.0 kg may just make it to sub 80 kg.
1 more 'sleep' until Park Final so I can then cross off that task for my club responsibility for this season.
12 PM

Walk - Mayfield 50:00 [1] 4.0 km (12:30 / km)

With group from work around Mayfield.
6 PM

Walk - Estate 50:00 [1] 3.0 km (16:40 / km)

Time and distance approximate.
Up 3 culdesacs of estate keeping my male dog happy.
