Orienteering - Bush (Easter Day 2 - Prossers) 55:32 [4] 5.1 km (10:53 / km)
14c shoes: New Balance Nov 2013

Prosser's Reef.
Course #10. 14 Controls. Nominal Distance 5.1 km.
Came 2nd only 1:59 behind Damien Enderby in 1st Place.

Progressive time so far after 2 events 2:03:39.
Damiens progressive time 2:01:36 so I need to beat him by 2:33 tomorrow to win.

#1 Found Damien still looking for this (he had started 2 minutes earlier) and he was too low. I went higher and found it first. Then Damien and I kept trying to lose each other for the next 6 controls - deliberately taking different routes but still ending up at control within seconds of each other.
#2 No issues
#3 No issues. I kept high and came down to control, and Damien contoured around, but we both go there almost together.
#4 No issues. Damien and I met up about 200 m from control despite taking different routes.
#5 No issues. Still couldn't lose each other.
#6 Damien chose the longer but easier track option. I took the shorter riskier head west through the bush option and got there about 20 seconds before him.
#7 No issues but Damien amped it up and took back 1 minute here.
#8 No issues but Damien amped it up and took back 1 minute here.
#9 No issues
#10 No issues apart from falling down cliff and getting massive bruise on right thigh. Turned blue, black and yellow over the next few days.
From Easter 2014

#11 No issues
#12 No issues
#13 Total screw-up. Must of headed E rather than SE. Could see I was way too high and hit fence running N-S. Realised mistake and then ran down wasting probably 200 m. Potentially could have won without this.
#14 No issues.

Walk - Bush (Glen Davis) 1:00:00 [2]

Time approximate.
Around Glen Davis after event.

Drive in amongst the canyon walls was dramatic.
Looked at some of the abandonned buildings from shale oil mining (equipment relocated from Newnes 1931 and run into the early 50s).
There was a history book in the cabin about this area which I found later.

Time was limited as we had guests for roast lamb dinner arriving at cabin at 5:30 pm.
