Routeburn Tramp. Down the valley to the Routeburn Shelter. To find no Linda to pick us up. After an hour we hitched a ride with some nice American ladies! Caught up with Linda and Blake eventually.
Very easy day nearly all easy grade downhill. The track was super manicured and very wide. We could walk side by side for most of it!
Routeburn Tramp Day 3. From Mackenzie Lake Hut over Harris Pass to Routeburn Falls Hut.
This was the main part of the tramp and we struck it lucky with superb weather. Very little cloud and warm conditions. Lots of trampers going against us as we were doing it the abnormal direction.
Emma feeling better which was good.
Actually we did a little side walk before we left to this cool huge boulder with a split in it. We could squeeze right through. We were on the go for about 8 hours but with plenty of stops.
The upper Route Burn is very spectacular.
Routeburn Falls Hut is also impressive. Modern and on a huge deck so you are up in the canopy of the Beech Forest.
Routeburn Tramp. Just from the Divide to Lake Howden Hut, which is basically just up the hill!
But Emma had been car/bus sick and had not really eaten for 2 days, so was a bit weak.
