Finished up the bit between Wed & Sat mapping - spanned two "boards" so had to keep swapping templates. Part of this was a laurelescent hillside. So quite a bit of bashing.

Finished mapping early, in running stuff anyway so opted for a short run before showering. But foot bothering me sufficiently to noticeably alter my gait and induce soreness in opposing hip, so bagged it at a mile.

Clear, chilly. Worked part of the ridge near the road for a few hours. Quite a bit of rock that is under the threshold for mapping mostly, but not insignificant. Also quite a bit of undergrowth - patchy, but enough to slow running in many places. And patches of diffuse laurel.

Into the ick. 45f, rainy, muddy road. Felt like a struggle, no energy, but not a terrible time I suppose... These shoes suck though... falling apart, no idea of original mileage, feeling every footstrike. New REI coupon came in though, perhaps time for another pair of Hokas. Probably being seeing more roads than I'd like for a while.

This was pretty rough. I've been avoiding this particular hill for about a month, having field checked most everything around it. Fairly steep, quite a bit of laurel, lots of rocky bits. With tablet in one hand, I've only got one free hand to assist climbing up or down and with one foot on the DL list, makes most any movement on the hill - up down or across - pretty damn slow, particularly climbing over and around the rock features while trying to hold onto something, anything.
But the 'hole' in the field work was bugging me, so sucked it up and finished it up. The clambering about was very slow and this area got quite a judicious dose of generalization, but that's probably ok...
Watch was flashing low battery, so saved this segment and started a new one for the last hour just to make sure I had the data.
