Mostly a trail run, but with map in hand making some mental notes as I went along. And a few off-trail forays connecting networks. Ran into Diane H. on mountain bike below Buckingham.

Quite a bit of blueberry today. Calibrating my mapping threshold for light green and undergrowth/slow run. If the undergrowth is knee high and I can't see the ground its mappable as undergrowth, if I can see the ground and its more spotty or small patches its just ignored as white woods, albeit not as fast as really clean white woods. Foliage also coming out rapidly, especially on blueberry and beech right now - so visibility in green taking a quick dive. Will have to revisit some the the more expansive patches in fall to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Probably pass on fieldwork tomorrow with snow/rain on tap for the morning...

Sunny, 50's. Feeling a bit lackluster, perhaps from extra mapping volume of late. 16s off my PR, but shaved a second off the 2nd & 6th intermediate splits. Counts for something I guess.

At Case, mostly trails, but running with map and controls and at least part of each leg was off trail. So calling it orienteering, but essentially a long yellow. Used ORange again, no issues except sometimes gps would lag 3-5 seconds when hitting the circle.

Parked off Hebron Ave and run to powerlines, but first a long shot diversion. Yesterday I managed to lose the cap to my Wacom stylus which really bummed me out. Don't need the cap really, but I like this stylus and was just pissed I lost it. So ran to where I started fieldchecking yesterday (and took out stylus) and began retracing my steps - luckily on a trail. 50m down and there it was - score!! And then continued on my run, quite happy to have reunited stylus and cap.

Orienteering 47:11 intensity: (13 @0) + (2:23 @1) + (9:00 @2) + (22:34 @3) + (13:01 @4) 4.93 km (9:34 / km) +120m 8:32 / km

Ran a nominal 3.6km, 7 control course to test new O-Range Garmin Orienteering app. A success from tech standpoint, less stellar orienteering but to be fair, I was running in largely unfield-checked terrain on a map aligned to grid N (without a grid printed) and discovered quite a bit of blueberry in places. One good mistake where I navigated to a fine bit of cliff I had added the other day, but the app said I was 100m away. Which I was as the cliff I got to hadn't been mapped yet. Whoops. Expect an OUSA post on the app later.

Ticks out in full force, and black flies just starting to get hungry - mostly males today, but a few females..

Fieldwork 1:13:07 intensity: (46:15 @0) + (24:56 @1) + (1:47 @2) + (9 @3) 3.11 km (23:32 / km) +27m 22:34 / km
ahr:89 max:125 weight:79.2kg shoes: SpeedCross4 2020

First part a bit of trail, then a cross country terrain assessment, mapped a couple items on the way, but not comprehensive. More detailed work down by the marshy bits..
