Run - Trail (Crandalls) 34:00 [3] 5.5 km (6:11 / km) +100m 5:40 / km
shoes: Mindbender

Early AM run around the usual loop at Crandalls on the way in to work. Need to force myself to do this more often - nice and easy, on the way and done and out of the way early. I just never seem to get back out the door later in the day...

The new Vasque Mindbenders fit nicely, are quite comfortable, but on the two runs I've done so far don't seem quite as confident as the Inov-8's when pushing harder on technical stuff.

Run - Trail (Natchaug) 1:12:51 [3] 11.9 km (6:07 / km) +200m 5:39 / km
shoes: Mindbender

Early evening recon of the section of Natchaug from Froeling Rd up to Ladies Room Rock. about 5.9k each way. Some really nice runnable stretches, some rather grotty, rocky nasty sections. Made the mistake of running sans lights and although I was back before it got really dark, the sections under evergreen tree cover were really dicey the last 3-4km. I was trying to run fast enough to beat the darkness, but running fast incurred the risk of catching a foot on unseen obstructions and going down hard. Luckily I didn't catch anything.

Amazingly enough my splits were almost dead even - 36:29 out, 36:20 back. I did push the first couple km back from the turn around pretty hard though as I could still see the ground in open woods and was hoping to make the best of what daylight I had left - then it got dark but I kept running, albeit very carefully and trying to be ultra aware of my foot placement (by feel, not by sight)

Running felt much better this evening than it did on dirt road yesterday - even though the pace was slightly slower today, it felt like I was moving well (up until it got too dark to safely run aggressively) where as yesterday it was just hard and i felt sluggishly slow.

2 PM

Run - Road (Hare & back) 25:43 [3] 4.7 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Roclite 312gtx

Forced myself out the door for a short run. And forced it was - although gorgeous weather - mid 70's, bright overcast - it was a total struggle even to do this. No energy, no flow, no nothing. Couldn't even stay upright. About 2km down the dirt road found myself prone in the dirt. Don't remember catching a toe or anything just boom, crash....

I suppose some days are just like that, better luck next time...
