XC Skiing (Windblown) 4:20:00 [2]

Took the kids up to Windblown for some x/c lessons and a day of skiing. High teens, windy in the open areas, but bright sunshine made for an enjoyable day. I'm sure the mileage wasn't much, but lots of fun.

Bruised my left knee pretty bad chasing a loose ski Hayden had lost - went off the groomed trail so I ventured after it down toward the pond - pretty good crust over quite a bit of powder, when I finally broke through my knee got wracked against the crust - gonna be tender tomorrow...

Month end review:

Almost made my goal of 25 hours saved at the end by a longish day of skiing with the kids. Had hoped for more higher level training, but satisfied with what I did accomplish since it is way more than most January's on record.

Didn't get my century on the bike in, but just no time to sit at the gym and crank out 5-6 hours. But maybe I'll fudge and allow myself a pair of make-up rides to fill in for these winter months when the odds of getting a ride in are quite slim.

None of my other metrics are in play yet - so I'll be happy with what I've got and hope for more next month.

Had to get in to work before roads got crappy - no gym. Long day, no time for a PM stop. Oh well. A number of vigorous climbs to the rooftop facility. Quads better today...

Evening visit to the gym after Jacksons concert and then getting the kids in bed.

200m high spin intervals at 275w+, 200m recovery, then a series of 400m/400m sets at 300w+ - then a series of random length intervals.

Average watts 189, don't recall the avg rpms or hr.

Woke up nice and early (around 4) but chilly house and sore quads led me to just blow the extra time I could have spent at the gym so got up at 5 and only got a short workout in today.

Level 8 - 107 rpm, 161 watts - quads quite spent afterwards, more thoroughly fatigued than 'sore'
