Orienteering 1:46:00 [3] 7.2 km (14:43 / km)

Slipperary Tipperary orienteering event. I had read the course notes and believed the advertising - nice open running with little undergrowth. The steep gullies could be avoided. I’ve been there before and this sounded easier than usual. So l entered course 3.
Reality - when l got there it was the same as usual - cold, wet, slippery bark, lots of fallen timber and lots of undergrowth. The organisers made me go down a grade, as clearly l hadn't understood the course notes - the courses were harder than usual !
It was your typical midwinter Daylesford event - and l walked every step due to wet glasses and a dodgy knee. The course was a little tricky and l had to help a young boy multiple times, even though he was on a different course. The steep hills meant that if you made a mistake, it was a bit of an effort to get back on track.

Saturday May 18 #

8 AM

Run 39:32 [3] 5.2 km (7:36 / km)

Kennington Parkrun. Felt pretty good today and slightly improved on recent times.
9 AM

Stretching/exercises 45:00 [3]

Achieve It Flexit class . Good stretch session in the sun, followed by a coffee with Anne.

Wednesday May 15 #

Run 37:08 [3] 4.7 km (7:54 / km)

Benalla lake on a perfect cool, still sunny morning. Felt quite good (i.e. uninjured) and l am hoping to keep it this way. I’m here for a few days alternating my written work with some garden maintenance. The holes in the house wall have now been bricked up, which makes it slightly warmer inside.
