USA Classic Championships, day 1, at Happy Valley Wildlife area, Williamstown, NY. Very nice terrain and good map, but difficult as contours were not obvious in the terrain and the large marshes did not have distinct borders. Made one MAJOR mistake on #5, 18-20 min. Tried to round north of a marshy area but got totally lost, was probably off the map. Had given up and was heading north towards a major trail to take me back to the finish when I suddenly could relocate. So I finished the rest of the course. Had another 2min mistake on #9.

O-training with Alex on the March Highland map starting from the west end at Huntmar road, where it crosses the railway. Mosquitoes and deer-flies were wild and made it hard concentrate on map reading.
