to the start of Becky's Slope-o at Ansonia

Feeling a bit banged up after yesterday's crash.
Madde shadowed Tim, who succesfully orienteered for the first time. They did the Fog-o course, un-fogged.

My first attempt going to the 1st control. Obviously not focused enough. Decided to start over but even had trouble finding my way back to the start.

Slope-o. This was a great exercise designed by Becky. The little pink tapes marking the controls were perfect, forces you to be in the exact right spot.

I had fun but spaced out in a few places. I have to learn a way to shut out other thoughts and focus on what I'm doing at the moment.
Oh, and I scared a bambi on my way to #9. It was laying in the high brush right where I came running, it jumped up and took off, I got scared and screamed.

Trust the compass. I was having trouble estimating the distance to #2. Cut off from 5-8 to not keep Madde & Tim waiting.

pilates 24:00 [2]

Just a short session while we had guests.

at Westwoods with Mike, Madde & Tim. Wet trails, but we managed to avoid the rain, except for the last ~20min.

Well, we had not even been riding for 3min and there was a downhill with loose gravel. I came pretty fast, started sliding and fell hard right on my chest. It completely knocked the air out of me. Mike who was ahead, came running back up. I walked around trying to breath, it was all black, I couldn't really see. I laid down. Mike was cleaning off my legs and arms. To get me off the wet ground he wanted me to get up so that I could lay on him. Next thing I knew, I woke up with my head on Madde's jacket and Tim was on the phone calling 911. I had passed out and Mike got scared. But I recovered and we could tell them help wasn't needed.

After resting for a while, we started our ride. These are some tricky trails, even for running. Mike had heard orange down passed the lake and white back up would be good for mountainbiking. So we started out on orange but it was impossible. Lots of hiking the bike. I was being extra careful, still a bit shaken up.

Late lunch and delicious strawberries at Bishops Orchard afterwards.

Note

Was planning on going for a run after work. But managed to lock keys, phone and everything in the car in the driveway after accidentally hitting the lock button on the driver's door wanting to open the backseat door to grab groceries. Luckily our awesome neighbors Scott & Katie are members of AAA. It took the guy about 5s to "break in" to the car(!) And when Mike came home with Mojo IPAs that felt like a much better idea than going running.

Didn't hear or see anything of the crazy thunderstorm that came through, but understand it was a good time to be inside doing zumba. Felt like Jose had picked a mix of only fast paced songs, phew! And then cool down to Whitney Houston - yes!

Warm out, almost skipped running, but figured it would get even hotter the next couple of days.
Tried setting the Garmin for latter intervals but gave up as the mosquitoes were getting me.

Slow jog back. Then a farewell feast for Matt & Jon who are leaving for Austria.
