Djouce Long run with Kathryn. Did a modified Powerscourt ridge route, taking Maulin from the right. Lots of rain overnight so trails seemed like a good plan. Warm in the forest and the legs took a while to wake up after not a huge amount of sleep. Once I took off the jacket though I was feeling alright. Windy once in the open but it was behind us and clear skies so lovely descent to the river. Tbf, it was pretty much a river the whole way down the Wicklow way! Climb up Djouce was long as usual, slowed to put on a jacket and buff because headwind but actually kept the legs ticking over. Having company with good chats helps. Met some UCD hiking group on the summit that Kathryn knew some of, quick photo before heading on. Descent was nice, feeling good and moving well. Just got over the 2 hours mark so very pleased.

Longest running week since May 2020!

Fernhill Night-o - results

Bit disorganised at the start, shouting to the Daves about thermals and jackets and forgot to start my watch :'(. I obviously know this area pretty well so was looking forward to it for a while.

This was great. I've wanted to be in closed bit of the forest here for so long and they got all the gates open for this event. Some nice forest and tricky controls. I mostly was ok. Not great but nothing major, 3s off superman. Felt like I was aware of myself though and kept in control when I could feel the wheels trying to come off. Felt surprisingly zippy on some of the tracks, though still didn't have much on the uphills. Torch was a bit dodgy. Went back to the old one, but I think the battery connection was dodgy and it would flash off every now and then, with the biggest incident thankfully coming on the downhill through the field where I could see with it off, so kept running while fixing!
