Warm up. Arrived pretty early and had some good chats with folks which was great. Had to gear up then and it really felt like I have't done this in a while. Moving alright but mostly just jogging about.

To work. Boy, that was quick this morning. Skipping the M50 roundabout is a significantly better route. A much nicer cycle not in the rain too I will say. New Decathlon gloves were essentially though in the cold. Pretty early because I had to not overlap with the primary oncall but that also meant it wasn't too busy. Would be very up for this time difference all the time.

From work to The Wall with Graeme. Dark these days. N11 route meant we could be more sociable which was nice. On arriving I learned Gina had decided to jog down and thus not bring my gear so I then also cycled home, where I forgot to stop my watch.

Got some yurples done but the pump came quick. Tried some reds and made progress but that grip strength is not there. Good fun evening though with chats too. I finally ordered some new shoes that'll fit me so I'll have them next week.

Hey, what's this? A long run? Wild!

This week is funny because the clocks changed in Ireland but not the US, so all my usual 5-6 PM meetings are 4-5 for the week. Got out early as a result which was nice, though still very dark ofc.

Started at Zipit and did the lower Cruagh path, down and up Massey's then the high path back through Cruagh. Hard work even though I was going pretty slowly. I particularly noticed it at the bottom of Massey's when I had ~all of the climb left to do, but once I turned around I was pretty grand actually. Running in the dark was some fun, and just running long in general. Gave me some hankering for night-o! Knee seemed fine, maybe a bit stiff later in the evening bit not sore which is nice. Probably should have rolled my calves though.

On finishing, the completely empty except for me space outside of Zipit was now completely full of cars, such that getting out was going to be a slight challenge. There was a dude in a high-vis jacket so I asked him what was up. Was some trail running group meet-up ("Irish Trail runners" maybe?). They do a lap of Cruagh every Wednesday at 7. Could be tempted to join that.

Ok, we had a nice bit of a base week in France, and everything seems to be functioning correctly. My fitness wasn't as outrageously bad as I thought it might be. Back to creating a plan

Monday: 40 mins
Tuesday: 20min am + strength
Wednesday: long run/fast walk ~ 90 mins
Thursday: cycle to + from work, Climbing
Friday: rest
Saturday: Turbo trainer cycle. Oncall so this is just a bit easier.
Sunday: Munster O Champs(!!) - yes I'm running M21L, not E.

After work the Stepaside -> Leopardstown valley loop. Didn't get satellites for ages but the distance still seems right (?). Slightly heavy feeling on some of the climbs but a pretty pleasant run overall.
