BBA. Feeling a bit heavy so reckoned I'd get out for a short one to get the blood moving a small bit. nice little loop. Saw about 6 squirrels.

Running (off-road) warm up/down 16:09 intensity: (4:48 @0) + (2:18 @1) + (22 @2) + (4:13 @3) + (3:50 @4) + (38 @5) 2.9 km (5:34 / km)

Warm up around the pitches. Legs loosening up a bit. A few strides and I felt like I could give this a bit of a lash today.

Orienteering race 1:07:46 intensity: (28 @0) + (3:12 @1) + (3:14 @2) + (21:05 @3) + (28:29 @4) + (11:18 @5) ** 13.37 km (5:04 / km) +169m 4:46 / km

Curragh LL.
Worked hard. Maybe a bit too hard early on. Lost a decent bit of time on no. 3 when it was in the wrong place. Looked everywhere except where it was, as that seemed to me the most obvious place to not put it... Moved it once I found it. Oing good otherwise, though not too tricky. One massive brain fart on 25 where I was looking at the control but couldn't see it for no reason at all. Legs tired by the end and really struggling to keep a high speed. Dug deep and left it out there anyway.

Running (off-road) warm up/down 9:14 intensity: (36 @0) + (3:05 @1) + (3:40 @2) + (1:38 @3) + (15 @4) 1.38 km (6:42 / km) +5m 6:35 / km

Cool down around the pitches. Hamstrings pretty tight. Tired now.

Long one. Very little motivation to go up to the exposed hills today with the grim weather. Heavy rain and strong winds so I went to somewhere a bit new, Aughavanagh, and stayed on the forest tracks. Met the forester as I was starting and had a bit of a chat with him. Worked pretty well really, had a nice loop that was right on the money time & distance wise and still did a fair amount of climb but on a nice surface for the most part. Few slippery bits on the way down. The boardwalk was waaay nicer in the runner than the inov8s actually. Moving ok even towards the end. Might know about it tomorrow though.

Socialising. Mr. Hill dropped by and we did a double Hollywood loop with a hilltop addition. Good to catch up. Also met a guy looking for his cows in the forest but we weren't able to help him. Legs felt heavy at first but moving nicely towards the end. Took a little fall on the hill part which seemed grand at the time but my shin/knee is a little sore this evening. Ice and sleep.

Back to Dublin this afternoon for the Lynam lecture. Up even later last night so a morning run wasn't that much of an option. Bus into town took forever so amount of time I had was limited. Had been hoping for an hour but dealt with what I had. Bag left in Irishtown (for free!) so and out and back along the coast. Started sensible but slowly got faster without realising until some point I kind of said I better keep this up I get, more value for time or something. Maybe not the most useful but it was fun so grand. Snuck in dinner before the lecture and early to bed tonight.

Up late enough but got up early to get out for a run before doing some London touristing. Headed up Olympic park direction. First bit wasn't great on roads but one on the Lea path it was grand. Very wet underfoot, many many puddles. Saw some egyptian geese. Up as far as the stadium and park before looping back through Victoria park and down some canal to the Thames. I was a bit under time so did some extra distance through Canary Wharf before getting stuck at a lifting bridge. Timing worked out pretty well in the end though. Nice enough run really. Felt a bit mad to be flat for so long!

Note

Made a bit of a mess of training today. Flew to London and had everything either gone as planned, or I had known in advance how it would go, there would have been no issues. Spent ages waiting for a bus in Naas that never came. Then getting the car on the other side took forever, especially not helped by a last minute request for proof of address, which it turns out was different from what they entered my address was so was clearly not necessary. Then socialising in the evening and no opportunities.

Easy day. Went for a short one in Castlecomer Demesnse before some golf in the afternoon. Legs tired, especially on the hills but a lovely sunny morning made it very pleasant. Misjudged the length a bit and went over the intended 30 mins.
