Note
(rest day)

Took it easy again today to make sure the body is actually recovered so that I can train again.

Note

Does the following look familiar?
Extract from my log at IOC relays last year:
Took it easy enough around the course, checking the descriptions thoroughly. Was feeling tired on the hills but knew the downhill finish would suit me if it came to it. In the end I saw no one, had a pretty clean race, except for 13 where I veered off line slightly. Came into the finish and we had easily won, outsprinting Conor and Kev on the run-in!

Nice to have one win from the weekend and fair play to Conor and Kev who gave me a really easy job to do on last leg.

Long may the relay continue like this but will be vying for more silverware next year.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Absolutely destroyed today. Got out of bed and ate some food. Got two bites in before I was wanting to get sick. Serious coughing as well. Called work to tell them I was sick and back to bed until 1. Feeling batter this afternoon. Body is sore but that is to be expected.

IOC Relay
Psyched to win this one again. Felt like we had a strong team again but CorkO and 3Rock looked like they could push us to the end.

Nice mass start to watch with all the guys having to cross a lovely ditch and up the steep hill. Then the wait. Could see nothing of the runners on the course and while there was a radio control at some point we didn't really get the information from it. In the end Conor popped out of the forest on his lonesome. Great! A lead after first leg exactly what we wanted. Kev went out with the fear of Darren catching him on all the hills. Turns out there was no need as Conor had given us a 17 minute lead on the CorkO team!

Kev was solid and had a similar time to Conor so I knew Darren couldn't have caught more than two minutes, maybe 3.

That gave me 14 minutes on Marcus and more on Colm M. Felt like I should manage that! Kept it clean around the course, double and triple checking my codes. Was feeling the classic on the hills but was moving alright. Was worried coming back into the forest and had to concentrate hard on the controls in here. Missed a few seconds but nothing major on 10. Veered off on my compass for number 13 but knew I was high and was able to drop into it. It was done then and had a nice long run in to be happy! Managed to outsprint Conor and Kev. The legs feel very fresh with that much adrenaline.

The guys made it easy for me really and there was no pressure on. Delighted with retaining the title. Nice to have something from the weekend apart from lessons!

Map. I was on gaffle A1.

Should get some new trousers maybe:
