Shamrock Day 1

Long walk to the start today. started well, was going grand getting the controls really nicely until 10. I left 9 and was looking at my line from 7 thinking I was that high so I dropped. Came out at the re-entrant and thought I was higher than I was, across the next re-entrant up the hill and bam nothing. saw a control. Ran to it. worked it out, I was too low and then back up to 10. Oing was fine after that again then

After a lot of thinking I understand more about why I didn't finish the long last weekend.
I'm definately annoyed I thought I was fit enough to get a place on the Middle and there are various other things I have to work on

Running (road) race 45:27 [4] 7.9 km (5:45 / km) +367m 4:40 / km
shoes: salomon speed cross

I felt tired today, so so little energy in my legs, coupled with not having eaten since breakfast in France. Set myself the goal of just running all the way up the hill and succeeded in doing that so I was happy. Just relaxed on the way down and managed to pass some people. ended up racing this guy at the end where I was trying to use the minimum of energy to stay ahead of him!

Another Marcus planned course. The runnability at the start was amazing which was nice, started with Marcus but he made some kind of mistake and I never saw him again. I messed up the 5th when i just didnt read one tiny feature and got really lost until Carol went into the control. Went super for a while then until a control where the map was really funny and I went back to check what was happening. still didnt make sense but then I tried again and found it. then I got into it again and then lost it at the end when I went just a bit too high.

Did a course planned by Marcus on Le Revard 2 (what a name...) First control wasn't out so spent a little bit of time checking I was right. The next one was pretty good missed it a little in the circle. Then I started orienteering really well for quite some time until I read the control before the one I was going to and got lost for a while. after that i didnt do fantastically but It was nice. nearly beat 10 mpk!

what a mess. just went badly. made mistakes was tired, made more mistakes, struggled through the forest, got to number 7, just under the hour mark. kept going and it was not great. when i got to the water station after 2 hours your man goes to me "ne pas d'eau" or something like that. I looked at him. felt slightly angry "what?" ne pas d'eau. YOU HAVE NO WATER???!! continued on my stuggling way for 2 controls but had absolutely no energy in my legs so i left it at that
