Wrecked for this, couldn't push at all. Missed 1 which put me behind from the the start and was fighting to get past people on the way 2 and 3. A bit unsure on the first one in the urban but got 8 well and got back in with a decent pack. Slight miss on 9 but clean from then and just struggled around for the rest really, completely dead by the last hill and barely hanging on.
Disappointed (but not too surprised) that I was that tired but I guess I'm happy enough with how it went considering how I felt.

Chicken Korma for breakfast is the way to go.
Mixed feelings about this. Debated with myself at the start whether to wear the cag or not. I had flashbacks to IOC last year where I spent a couple of minutes hiding behind a spur and decided that I should just leave it on.

Got the first few nicely, but probably should have gone a wee bit slower. Saw Chris Smithard about 30-60 secs ahead going up the hill to 6 so that gave me a bit of a boost. Caught him then at 8 and has hoping to run with him but he just disappeared. 9 and 10 were good. Took the route around the hill for 11 but also messed it up and didn't go high enough to the control. Lost ~90secs there and saw Aidan Smith coming up through the depression. I missed 12 as well then and he caught me. He was running a bit quicker than me at this point so I just sat in behind through the shorter legs. Different routes to 20 then, I stayed high so I could be running downhill all the way but he went to the lower crossing point. Turned out equal enough.
Just coming into 20 is when the hail hit, which was fine going to 21 as it was from behind but bad for 22 and worse on 23. Aidan had stopped to put on his cag I think so I was leading and lost time on both of those from just not being able to look up and just randoming around.

Was very cold by 24 and not reading the map well at all.
Got to the spectator eventually and all the maps were frozen together which was a bit annoying. I was cold and tired now so I went from racing to just trying to finish. Felt wretched going back up the hill. Tried to eat some jelly beans but my hands were too cold to get them out of the packet. I probably should have taken the 30 secs or so and eaten them because I completely bonked but Aidan was ahead again I didn't want to get dropped

Orienteered like an absolute walnut from 30 onwards and he'd obviously died a bit too so wasn't much help. Eventually made back.

I did lose time due to the weather but mostly I think I didn't quite have the fitness to race well for the full 2 hrs. Definite improvement since my last long though which I think was the SHI and good to be first Irish so happy enough.

Happy enough with this but a good bit of improvement possible.

Felt mostly good physically, definitely feeling stronger on the hills and just faster in general. I think I didn't get the food quite right though, stomach was a bit funky for the last ~10 mins. I should start making a note of what I eat on race days and find an eating routine that works consistently; it's something I've noticed in a few races recently. I'm not sure it actually slowed me down much but it's an added distraction.

My nav was good but nothing fantastic, a good few things that could do with ironing out. I need to have a better plan for leaving the controls; could have contoured to the track coming out of 3 and coming out of 4 was really bad.
Got distracted by an ~M50 going to a control just past 6 and confused the green hash with the green forest losing ~30 secs.
7-19 were nice, I had a good flow and got the short legs in the more detailed area well, some small hesitations on 1 or 2 of them.
I think I was a bit tired after the climb between 16 and 19 and which caused the mistake to 20. Looking at the map it doesn't really match up to what I remember seeing, but that's more likely down to me than the map. Easily avoided by just checking the compass. Got the last few well too.

Awful run. Wasn't planning ahead at all and kept taking wrong routes and getting caught out by levels and dead ends. Even though I don't tend to focus as much on sprint I was hoping for a better performance.
