Cheeky crows nest 5k. Dropped mum off to run home over the tops and decided I'd go an out and back. Torrential rain started 5min in, was awesome fun!

22min tempo in the botanics. Had a decent 11min loop with good undulations but no big prolonged hills. Ran off heartrate for the most part, which matched the effort i felt, except for midsecond loop when my heartrate sat around high 170s but effort felt the same...hmm.

Having collected the car, was stoked to find mum had packed running kit and her headlamp despite knowing she wouldn't have time to run. Why? Wellington Ints, the group is growing, which is cool. So long as we stick to wide enough tracks!
8 x 2.5min hills tonight. Starting with 45s along the flat along the bottom of Otari, before turning up the hill toward the top carpark. Good route for an interval. That valley is bloody cold though!

Took Mum to the Tararua Range for mothers day :) Parked at the *new* road end to Otaki Forks, ran over the slip and the 3.5km in to the Forks. Then I went ahead, up the spur to Field Hut and beyond to the tops. Turned around after the agreed 2hrs from the forks. Met mum again just above the hut, so had a break and snack with her before continuing ahead back to the car.
Great day out. Classic Tararua mud and clag though, zero views.
