U23 camp exercises on hydrabad. Started with a warmup in an impressively flooded macrocarpa strip. Then contour only, where I got very confused by the 5m contour interval and my lack of compass. Then a few warmdown controls back to the car.

Stopped at Jailhouse dunes for a run onthe way down from NP. Ended up running all the way out to gonad point and a not so direct way back exploring what the state of various bits of the forest are like. Haven't orienteered here since I was a teenage, so was keen to see the state of it. Very mixed. Some areas are beautiful and crying out for a remap, but they probably aren't big enough alone, and are separated by areas that need a few years to grow up still.
That said, I only got around the Eastern half of the map, so the Western part could be good to go. needs another scope..
