Orienteering 54:00 [5] 7.52 km (7:11 / km) +320m 5:55 / km
World cup middle.
Pretty disappointed here. Knew it was a day where anything could happen, just had to keep things clean and clear and under control. But failed in that. I'm not too fussed about the quality of the map etc, I think as an orienteer you have to be able to adapt to these things. But maybe that's as I've grown up in a country where we have to adapt to these things ;)
Nope, today I had an alrights start. Maybe not the best route choices, but safe enough. Until 6-7 where I didn't see the flag and panicked. Made a nice parallel mistake, mixing up which saddle I was at, leading to 3mins circling the wrong area. Reached 7 (the second time) at the same time as a train of girls who started directly ahead and behind me. But opted not to follow them as I thought I knew better.
Lol.
I misinterpreted the same two saddles/spurs again, and made the same parallel mistake, just 90deg different from before! Another 90s gone.
Gritted my teeth and got through tbe rest of the course. Lost plenty of time on small map details and just silly tired decisions, so hard to estimate total time loss without sitting down and looking properly, but I know top 15 was there for taking.
Ah well, i'm a sprint specialist now anyway ;) managed to keep up with Marty dent on the tracks for a bit, so there's a positive!!
Although my knee let it be known today that it is not happy with being a sprint specialist :( stupid itb, not used to hard surfaces after 4 yrs in Norwegian marshes!
Running warm up/down 24:00 [2] 4.0 km (6:00 / km)
Painfull warmdown. Will have to nurse my knee through these two sprints
