Bit different from norway eh. A day's training in this stuff would prob have helped. But was ok all up. Theme of the day was navigating to the circle then hunting for which hole/lump the control was tucked in/behind ;)
I had three big time losses; #8 on a risky entry to the control which didnot pay off. Endedup looking in ditch ater ditch, only 2 of which were mapped. #14 i let the map confuse me and had shocking direction. And 19 - a very well camouflaged wooden hide in themiddle of a brambly block - a black cross in the middle of a featureless white block. My direction was off and there was literally nothing to do but a 360scan til i spotted it stickingup above the undergrowth.
Anywho. 5th. 2.20 back. Not brilliant but not horrific.

Almost forgot the most skilful part of my run; the split second side step to avoid running up the back of an older lady who dropped her map in the middle of the finish chute. Was pretty proud of myself

Jk sprint.
Absolutely shanked it. Worst technical performance in a sprint that i can remember. 5 big mistakes ranging from 10-25s each plus 3x wrongroutechoice. Definitely showed my lack of sprint training over the last 1.5 years.
On the positive side; was ok mentally. Happy with how i dealt with Cat coming past, and seeing Tess getting closer. Physically i was nowhere near top speed or form, but happy with where i'm at 2.5 months from woc.
Another big positive was Laura's run and result :D
Will try remember to screw my head on for the middle tomorrow. And s timely reminder to sort out some decrnt sprint training plans

Timed it perfectly to run within the 1.5 hr block of rain we had in an otherwise nice day. Got abaolutely drenced but enjoyed it.
Bit niggly.

2 x sprints in town. Had a good talk to emil last week about sprint techniques and focusses so was good to enact some of them. Probably set off to hard onn the 1st course and paid for it. But went a much better intensity on the 2nd. Happy with the session.
Didnt feel hip at all but need to keep up the massage and rxercises. Pretty tender to touch when i get the right/wrong spot

Easter fun at hos Wingstedt. 45min Memory course collecting a letter from each control. Then making as many easter words as possible from what we had.
Main tactic was to memorise a vague route, then follow little kids into the controls as they had maps. I was more succesful with this than I was at getting words out of my letter collection.

Orienteering 1:22:01 [3] 10.07 km (8:09 / km) +289m 7:07 / km

Norwegian spring long distance. Thankfully the course went directly to the nice forest in the North, and did a good 6.5km loop in there. Terrain was heavy and I really felt my lack of terrain running in the last 2 weeks. Lost a good whack of time on the two longer legs - same old issue of being pulled by the terrain, not what I'm reading on the map.
Went for a full body swim in a marsh enroute to 6. As in all 4 limbs submerged to the knee or elbow joint. Kept my face just above water level. Lucky it was a sunny day or the rest of the course would have been effing freezing!

The last 3km or so was a lot more track running, through the rougher stuff back toward the arena. Happy that I could push strongly through this part.
Hip a niggly afterwards, but was OK throughout
