Orienteering 1:00:00 [2] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)

Checking controls for Norwegian Spring middle. Got given a 1.5km loop close to the arena, which was annoying to start with.
Then I knew this wasn't a HSK event as soon as I got to my first control - W side of a shed size building next to a track. obviously a novice control. Immediately see a control, on the E side of the building. "well that's blatently wrong" I think, better check the number - should be 31...it's number...no, it has no number. What it does have, is a picture of a zebra, and an emit punch?! At this point I wondered if they'd seriously sent me out to check the smatroll controls. Decided I'd bring it up when I got back, and headed off toward my next control, only to stop short 10m later - there was #31, just out of sight, on the W side of the building! (or rather, a good 5m W of the W of the building). WTF?! 2 controls on one tiny building? you can't do that! It's like #1 in the event setting rule book!

Had issues with the map, runnability, control descriptions, and control placement at pretty much every control I had to check. (had some sweet 8m cliffs on the descriptions - they were maybe 2.5m high. The only way you could get 8m was if you measured their length?) Pretty peeved by the time I got back, and then i had my concerns waved away by the controller. Which made me just kinda depressed for the event.
Decided to do Mats' control checking course too to get at least some distance in. Terrain was marginally better on his, and at least I got to run up and over the hill a couple of times.

The positive is I'm pre-warned for the long tomorrow I guess. Pretty glad I didn't run today.

Two sprint courses in sentrum. Got the pace right and actually felt like a sprinter for the first time in a while. Can now check 'train for jk sprint' off my to do list ;)
Leg pulled up fine. Could feel a twinge or two at times but all g.

Wheeee. Didn't feel anything from my hip flexor during the day at work and walking around, and didn't feel much more while out running.
Considered doing a few intervals with the club. But managed to take long enough exploring en route to Rodsparken that by the time I got there I only had 15mins left in my allowed 45, and needed 14 of them to get home. So safely avoided getting excited and pushing myself too soon and reinjuring anything ;)
