Orienteering 30:55 [3] 4.5 km (6:52 / km)

NZ champs relay. Running 3rd leg of the Wellington 1 team with Nick and Steph. Headed out in 4th, passed Anna around #2 and was chasing down Nick Harris and Max the entire way. Nick Smith cruised past at around #7, I gave him up as gone. Was gaining on the other two but never quite made it, finishing 4th. Reckon it would have been very tight if I'd attacked #11 down the hill better - lost a fair bit of time having to cross rough rutted ground.

Orienteering 1:13:00 [4] 8.5 km (8:35 / km)

NZ long distance. Steep tough hills with a few rocks and cliffs. Started slow and hesitant and tried to build into the course, but never got into it mentally really. Nailed the route choice to #5, and was clean enough until #9 where I made a large parallel mistake. Got my direction wrong climbing out of 8 and didn't check my direction at the top of the ridge, following the wrong spur down. Luckily my mistake didn't result in any bonus hills to climb, so 'only' lost 3.5mins or so...
Was still rough from there, but stuck out the course and managed to sneak in ~1min ahead of Laura. Think the long mental break runs of the last couple of months paid off in terms of strength at the end.
