Running 2:00:11 [3] 14.75 km (8:09 / km) +980m 6:07 / km

Corn Trail with Lukas and Larry.
Beautiful track. The rainforest down bottom had me believing I was back home. Apart from the constant thought of snakes, ticks and leeches...

1 snake. 2 ticks. 0 leeches between us.

Orienteering 39:30 [3] 6.5 km (6:05 / km)

Twilight event at Cooleman ridge.

A fairly simple area 2 months ago, completely different this time around with grass from waist to over head height (snakeville much?), and Lukas' donut training meaning you only had compass to go off in the last 50-100m for each control. That and the controls were just flags lying on the ground in most cases meant that a lot of time was spent within 50m of the control wondering just which rock the flag would be next to! (or trying to see the rock in the grass!)

Despite all that moaning, I actually really enjoyed it. Bit tired though. And the danger posed by hayfever worried me more than that posed by snakes ;)

Just seem to have a bruised heel from last night. Ankle mobility is fine and pain free. Will see how things fare today.
12 PM

Running 52:00 [4] 8.93 km (5:49 / km)

Hill ints at Bruce Ridge with Lukas.

~2.50 per rep, but had breathing issues on the 3rd, so cut the session short. On the plus side - using new technique managed to get breathing under control quickly, and managed a 1min hill int and warmdown with no issues.

Football 40:00 [3]

Late night game. Pretty high intensity match.

Couldn't sleep for ages after.

Awesome fun halloween (Stone age theme) rogaine on Ainslie, organised by the Millers and helpers (massive thanks!)
Had a great time out, really tricky to pick the best route (no idea if i did). Zig Zagged my way around and up Ainslie, then down to Campbell parklands, over HH and finished up with a bit on Majura.
Even knowing the area quite well, there were some really cool control sites and new areas. highlights included a 'stone age' mine, 2 swims to controls in dams, spotting a new (to me) single track, and almost stepping on a (later found to be) dead echidna, and stumpy tail. Do stumpy tails eat dead echidnas? Or was it mourning?

Anyway, cleaned the course in just under 3hrs. But didn't do so well on the scavenger hunt.

Got beaten on points by Lukas and Cairan, thanks to Lukas' "novice" points. At 1 point per 5g of kangaroo poo for the scavenger hunt, I reckon I'd have needed 405g of poo to take the overall win.

Unfortunately the organiser's didn't give me points for inventing the wheel nor making fire while I was out there. Which is unfair, cos I could hardly carry either of them back.
