Orienteering race 57:00 [3]

Not sure what was going on with times, but my watch has me a minute faster than the official results.

WA long distance. Typical Gully Spur stuff, but with spikey WA bushes. Reasonably clean run, a couple of hesitations when I wasn't sure of my bearing on vague parts. And a couple of times where I could have done with being a few cm taller to see over the undergrowth.

My GPS also has me as running 8.02km, when the course was 8.5km. So I'm obviously cheating somewhere.

Orienteering warm up/down 15:00 [3]

No warmdown in the driving rain and wind. Took 2hrs+ for my hands to regain feeling and colour.

over to the botanics and a short hill sprint session. Sprints were ~5m shorter than last week too, as I didn't have the heart to disturb the huddle of roos and their joeys near my start tree.

have also found where all the bunnies on campus go to hide from the poison traps. And boy have they been busy. Must almost be ready for their big push to retake over campus.

Hit the wall after too many late nights. Worked til 7, stopped off at M&M's for dinner, (but actually now just M's I guess after M2 finished, got a job and left us :(, went home and straight to bed.

So many people obliviously wandering along/across/phantom slaloming along the bike path with headphones in. Not to mention the entire class that decided to cross the road right in front of me. Or the 100s of students blocking all bike paths on campus...How dare they go to uni and use public access ways! ;)
But no, the first two atleast were rage inducing.

Red letter day as I cycled to work in just the single layer AND went for my first run in a singlet for the season!

putting controls out on the Gib.

Moving time only. Plenty of time standing triangulating off rocks to make sure I had the right one.

Getting (or trying to get) Juniors lost on the relocation exercise. They all managed pretty well though, and if they can manage it on the Gib then WA should be a breeze?
12 PM

Orienteering 25:00 [2] 3.3 km (7:35 / km)

Final course back to the cars. Was all ready to have a run myself, but perhaps a bit too excited as I misjudged a branch on the way to #1 and ended up landing on my nose. Managed to cut the inside of both nostrils, but nothing on the exterior. So pretty good aim.
Spent a minute or two mopping up my face before heading off again at a more sedate pace. Oh well. Did enough hard stuff yesterday!

Huge thanks to Olle et al for collecting the remaining controls. I'd had it by the finish and not sure I had it in me to get back up and over the hill to collect!
