Headed out to Googong dam with Grace and Lukas and explored a couple of trails out there. Really nice area and good company, will have to return for more runs!

From the lab, straight up to the top of Black Mtn, via a half loop of circumcision. Down and up little blackie, then went for a terrain bash on the northern slopes. Picked up Jacqui's terrain run tapes, lost them, found them again, lost them, found them. Then they ran out. Or I lost them again...?
Turned around and followed them back - much easier to follow heading the other way! Though I still ran a couple of loops while searching for the next tape!
Then headed back to the lab.

Awesome terrain line by Jacqui - just needs some longer tapes (bright pink is amazing though!). We need to get on to taping the rest of the loop :)

Around, about and home again. Front brake is rubbing, which made the hill effort up to the lab a bit of an extra hill effort!

8.30pm games are just too late to get amped up for. Spent most of the time laughing at the ridiculous mistakes our team was making. Lost 7-0 in the end I think (4-0, 3 x girl goals).

Summer series at Farrer Ridge.
Calf muscles were still little balls of pain from Sunday, and didn't ease up at all throughout. A couple of blips on controls, but a mainly smooth run. Unsurprisingly I didn't get anywhere close to the big boys' times this week!

A crawl around Bruce ridge to try and loosen things up from yesterday. Not too bad really, but still very sore if I move after I sitting down for a while...so the choices seem to be to do nothing and not move, or keep moving and don't stop!

Running race 1:48:17 [4] 21.2 km (5:06 / km) +650m 4:26 / km

Deep Space half marathon from Honeysuckle to Orroral and back.

A very early morning to get out to Namadgi, but perfect running conditions on arrival - started off in a long sleeve top but happily discarded it after 3.5k just before the big descent. Managed to restrain myself and not wreck my knees in the steep downhill. Poor guy with me had no grip on his shoes, so had a rough time of things!
Eased into the undulating track at the bottom, giving my knees time to recover before picking up the pace along the valley to the turn around and back.
Sunk my gel and grabbed 3 lollies from the drinks stop for the big ascent, then just put my head down and got stuck into it. Achieved my main goal of running the entire hill, though could have done with a 4th lolly for the final kick from the 5k mark to the 3.5k drinks! Timed it perfectly to get to the drinks, and my dropped off long sleeve top, just as it started hailing!
Very happy to find there was more downhill than I remembered in the last 3.5k, and managed to stop the muscles from seizing up, coming home in just over 1.48.

Really enjoyable race, even with the big climb! I really haven't done enough mtn running races in the last couple of years. Need to rectify that.

A vain attempt to save the legs afterwards. Managed to miss prize giving in doing so. Oops!
