Running 15:00 [3]

Jogged the long drive out of my legs. Just down the road from the scout camp to the local tennis courts and back.
11 AM

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]

15WU, 10WD.

Orienteering 15:52 [5]

Easter prologue sprint.
Classic uni campus with a fair amount of bush. First leg took us through a couple of buildings and straight into the bush. Missed the start of a couple of small paths, but was pretty 50-50. Short leg 1-2 to a ditch, near a weirdly cut index contour, which I read as another ditch. Lost 15s looking in the wrong one as a result.
Smashed through the undergrowth to 5, thanks to Glendale last week toughening me up :) Too high on 7, losing 15s again.
From there it was into the buildings. No real time loss to speak of. Happy with my route choices and reading ahead. Have a dodgily fast looking split 18-19 as a result of my fence hurdling skills ;)
Never felt like I got up to full speed, but a clean enough race had me end up ahead.

Note
(rest day)

No time for a jog before driving down to Vic. And too late when i got there.

Running 1:00:00 [3]

With Matt and Grace. From our house over to Ainslie. Then a bit of a corridor exercise I'd sketched up. Missed the last couple of controls a bit as it got dark (that's what i'll blame anyway!)

Good shake out for the legs

Football 1:15:00 [3]

Finished early to go watch Aus vs Oman. I left early so as not to get myself in trouble with any comments when Aus went 2-0 down!

Orienteering 48:52 [3]

ACT event out at Tharwa Tor. Really enjoyed the course. Nice open running for the most part, which was nice after yesterday's efforts! A couple of small misses on 3 and 4, again, climbing too far! Just too strong on hills obviously ;) Got well stuck in green on the way to 11 - had 3 of us in there calling out to each other trying to find a way through! And another miss on 20, where i passed the rock on the wrong side and didn't spot the flag.

Only other things to note were having to time my run across a long line of cows (i assume the same ones which Grace later hid from). And pulled off an impressive superman dive going down the hill to #20, luckily landing in the long grass rather than the rocks!

Orienteering 1:17:00 [3]

64 controls in the space of 6.4km set for us by Shep. Quickly discovered the answer to my query last year about why they didn't take us further into forest in the 2nd half of last year's ACT long dist champs...so so prickly! Will be picking thorns out of my arms, legs and stomach for the next couple of weeks.

Good fun. Not brilliant orienteering on my part, most problems caused by scale ( a bit weird to say, but it was still getting me after 60 controls!). And a couple of times I climbed too high on uphill legs.

Bit of a WU and WD in there too.
