Orienteering 1:17:00 [3]

64 controls in the space of 6.4km set for us by Shep. Quickly discovered the answer to my query last year about why they didn't take us further into forest in the 2nd half of last year's ACT long dist champs...so so prickly! Will be picking thorns out of my arms, legs and stomach for the next couple of weeks.

Good fun. Not brilliant orienteering on my part, most problems caused by scale ( a bit weird to say, but it was still getting me after 60 controls!). And a couple of times I climbed too high on uphill legs.

Bit of a WU and WD in there too.

Running 52:00 [3]

Things seemed to be working suspiciously well, both in the lab measuring, and with writing my python code...so thought I'd get out while the going was good and before i got stuck with the next issue to spring up!
Around the various single tracks on blackie. Saw the (one and only) Echidna that lives up around circumcision. I can't be a very intimidating predator though, it kept waddling on it's merry way.

...then back to the lab to discover my code isn't working as nicely as I hoped pre run. Oh well. Too late on a Friday to worry about it now!

Football 1:30:00 [2]

Legs were really not feeling it today! ok to start with but by the time we got to fitness at the end they just weren't having it. All of the sprinting from a standing start made me feel like I was made of lead!

Note

I just noticed (being the vain entity that I am), that I'm going to tick over 20000 page hits today. So, if you can prove you're no. #20000, I'll send you a team lizzie bottle opener. Yep. they haven't sold out. I know. Unbelievable.

Running 56:00 [4]

A little tour of sprints around the basin, set by Olle.
Should have got there earlier so I could warm up before the first one around the war memorial, legs weren't so appreciative of that! Then jogged on through to Commonwealth park for a longer sprint, 2 in the rose gardens, and one by the carillion. Body felt surprisingly good for once, even if the sprints weren't exactly full speed (or maybe it just felt that way with the 3 boys chasing me down!)
Something like 4.05, 6.15, 1.30 x 2, and 2.20 sprints.

Football 1:30:00 [4]

Final Fed Cup match (for us).
Seriously, 8pm on a tuesday?! Not ideal. And playing a team in green and black stripes - they just blended into the pitch and surrounding darkness!

Another frustrating game. It's coming together though, just working out combinations still. I had the misfortune of marking an absolute brick of a girl, who's specific job seemed to be to drop the shoulder and take me out every time I got the ball. (My team mates overheard the opposition confirm this tactic in the 2nd half). And the ref didn't do anything about it. Not once.
I didn't retaliate, but am disappointed that I let it get to me, got pissed off, and as a result didn't play very well. Something that I should know better by now - I seem to be able to calm myself down when I'm out orienteering and make a stupid mistake. But when it's on the soccer pitch, and another player is the (continuous) issue - it's a bit harder to put it behind you!

Anyway. onwards and upwards. 2.5 weeks til season starts.

Running 1:32:00 [3]

Cockies long run, possibly the last one for me for a wee while thanks to soccer. We'll see, think I said that for the last one too!

Up Majura to start, waved goodbye to Devil's back up the final fire trail and hung in there with Ecmo. Down to see what remains of Majura pines, then a slog over HH and Ainslie. The boys left me behind on the hills, as expected. But I still have them on the downhill :) (or they just let me have it. I suspect the latter.)

Disappointed in the poached eggs at Deli Marx afterwards. I always order poached as I'm not brilliant at them myself - but this lot looked and tasted like I'd cooked them!
