Orienteering 33:57 [4]

Ran the twilight course from Feb on bruce ridge.
Felt fit and fast for the first time since I got back to Canberra. About time! Messed around trying to find the knoll and pit at 5 (or 6?). And stood looking for the rock at 8 for a bit. Like I have before.
Otherwise clean and good. There was a concert or something going on at the stadium. Didn't sound too good, bit high and falsetto like for my tastes. Not sure if it made me run faster, or affected my navigation?!
Now to check my time against the twilight results :)

Intervals. How novel! Don't think I've done any straight running intervals since some time well back in last year!
Monas, but messed up the timing somewhere in there. Just 2x2min, 2x1.5, 4x 1,0.5,0.25min, with half recoveries. Which got a bit hard when I had 7.5s rests for the 15s ints...hmmm.
Atleast I did them. And survived. Single tracks on blackie made it more bearable too, so not all speed, some twisting and turning in there too.

Out from the lab again. took the long route up to circumcision, around the back of the botanics. then a full lap and over the top of blackie. followed my nose on single tracks for a while, until i decided it was taking me away from where i wanted to go! So went off track for a bit, looped around and headed home.
Still some niggles there. sigh.

Orienteering 2:23:00 [3]

After a late night at soccer last night, it was up at 6am to get a lift out to the Duo at Belangelo.
I've always wanted to try a duathlon, so the idea of a duathlon of orienteering was pretty exciting :)
Cool idea - started off with a little score o, then a mtb-o course, a middle distance foot-o, another mtb-o, and a final little foot-o course (not quite a sprint, but kinda).

Got in a bit of a boo on the 2nd foot course, as it was scrubby and horrible, and I wasn't wearing long socks. Such a sook, I know! And the dodgy map, and my dodgy orienteering all contributed to it. So a bit ironic that my mtb-o was better than my normal o!
It was pretty long eh! And I only did the medium course, pretty glad I didn't go for the long one! Advantage of it being long is that I got out of my bad mood by the finish haha.

Good day out. Hope I can somehow manage to squeeze in the next one on Stromlo prior to my football match...
