biking (commute) 45:00 [3]

think I set a record from Downer to top of O'Connor trying to get back in time for Shannon to pick me up. (sorry!)

and to and from Simone's for dinner. Forgot that Italians do the whole 3 course meal thing. Bit of a slow wobbly ride home carrying about 5kg in food baby weight...

Strength and Conditioning 15:00 [3]

didn't finish cos i got distracted. Can't remember by what though!
11 AM

Orienteering 45:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch 4

Sprint training at UC which Shannon kindly set :)

got 10mins into first sprint before my body just went kapput on me. Think I've jumped a bit too enthusiastically back into training the last week or so and my body hasn't adjusted. Just couldn't get the breathing right and pains in the chest.

So just jogged it out with Shannon, then did a verbalisation jog around half of the second sprint which was good. Did a few legs in the technical ressie area at the end.

biking (commute) 30:00 [2]

Every day I ride past the Canberra Chinese Catholic Church. And every day I want to add a sign at the bottom saying "Home of Alliteraters anonymous".

Just me?
8 AM

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [1]

exercises and stretches this morning to make up for lack of yday. Done while the cat was still asleep so no surprise attacks to mess up my balance
6 PM

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2011

Over to AIS and back after sprint training. Counted cadence on the way back again. 89. Super glad it wasn't as hot as yesterday, my plan was to stop at the water fountain (sorry, bubbler) on the way to meeting the others. But the gate was locked :(

Orienteering 13:15 [4]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2011

AIS sprint from NOL in march last year. Ran the course in 11.15 then...hmm. A closed gate added about 1.15 to the first leg, but still 45s slower!

I'm sure there's some good reasons; my lack of training in the last 6months and being pretty tired at the end of my first week back training being 2 excuses. But it's still demoralising.

A lot of work to do in the next 2 weeks it seems. (not sure how that will go with fieldwork all next week though).
9 PM

Strength and Conditioning 25:00 [1]

Full set of stretches and physio exercises.

biking (commute) 40:00 [2]

biking home in a singlet at midnight and sweating like a horse - just a bit warmer than back home!
5 PM

Running warm up/down 8:00 [3]

token warm up/down.

Orienteering 31:48 [4]
shoes: Inov8 X-talon 212 2011

twilight at goorooyarroo. Rather hot out in the sun, and lovely long grass to push through. With rutted hard ground and rocks under said grass and interspersed with some of the worst fences to cross that I've ever come across!

enjoyable.

Nah I guess it was good to get out and certainly felt better for it afterwards. But not exactly enjoyable at the time. Got caught in the fence 6-7 for a good 20-30s (not even exaggerating is the sad thing!), including an incredibly awkward moment when i got exactly half way through then got stuck :s
Then just about died on the hill to 7, looked forward to the downhill to 8 but had to shuffle it cos the ground was so rutted and rocky beneath the long grass. Barely got above a jog the whole way round, but good mental strength training if anything i guess :)

Strength and Conditioning 15:00 [2]

roll out and physio exercises. hoping it gets less painful soon!

managed to block a pass with my ankle on a funny angle last night, so bit sore this morning. Nothing to stop me running though
12 PM

aqua jogging 30:00 [3]

monday lunchtime swim/AJ transferred to tuesday. Without a belt as Civic don't have any. managed not to drown, not sure how good my technique was though.
Got some weird looks but I was almost jogging faster than some of the ladies in the slow swim lane, so they can keep their looks to themselves!

advice on technique/how not to drown immy? whitepants?
6 PM

Orienteering intervals 18:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2011

rose garden intervals that Olle set for us (thanks!). Good fun but my legs were pretty dead from about half way through! Guess that happens when you haven't done any speed work in 6months...

Time is an estimate, but 12 intervals. Should remember my watch more often.

Strength and Conditioning 25:00 [1]

succumbed to the final day of the Wiggle sale. New inov8s and some nice bright reflective wear on the way :)

Football 35:00 [3]

last game of the 9 aside season. Boy i got tired! Both yesterday and today I've felt physically sick about 2/3 through my session. Doesn't usually happen and I'm pretty sure I'm not pushing harder than usual. weird.
lost 3-2 but good fun. Have to figure whether I want to try and fit in soccer alongside orienteering this year. very tempting

Running 1:37:20 [3] 17.01 km (5:43 / km) +709m 4:44 / km
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2011

A much harder session than I originally planned. Having been too lazy to get up for Cockies long run this morning, thought I'd better do my own in the arvo. Then got distracted watching the cricket, so didnt get out until the lunch break.

Wound my way through single tracks along OConnor, Bruce ridges and back of Blackie. Then busted a gut up to the summit, past about 7 guided walk groups. Stumbled around for a minute or so on top trying to find the water tap. Then a loop of circumcision and pretty much straight back over Little Blackie and along the 4wd tracks.

Got my first spider web facial of the year on Black mtn (and 2nd). And legs were a pain on the return. Also some raw patches on my feet, I think due to wearing the same socks as I went up Ngaurahoe in... probably need a few more washes to get all the grit out!

Oh and I've found a new hobby - counting my cadence every 5mins :) Pretty varied really, but hovers around 90 double steps a min which is a good sign. went something like 92,92,91,89,91,87(disrupted),89,89,91,89,90,90,89,90.
Good thing to check, so long as I can stop myself from counting when I'm orienteering!
5 PM

Strength and Conditioning 30:00 [1]

test match was finished by the time I got back from running.

Also. Ow.
