dragged my brother out to manawatu gorge for a christmas run. he's used to road running, so struggled on the up hill. But with my ankle still dodge he was faster than me on the down (or he claimed to be, he was still behind me).

run from days bay up the freaking steep hill and along to mt lowry, back a bit and down. With Bryn, Piret, Bill and Jamie (x2) there it was a good fast pace, i had to push to keep up. Something I hoped we'd have when we started doing group runs over a year ago, shame it's really happened only a couple of months before i leave!

Running 31:00 [3]

very easy run around the yellow track at wiltons bush to see how the ankle is faring. Took it extremely easy down the hills and it hurt a bit along the uneven tracks, but no acute pains which is a good sign.

Went and saw ruth highet this morning, and after yet more prodding and pushing she couldn't figure what was wrong. so getting booked in for another mri, hopefully before new years, but cant get an appt to have it reviewed until 13th jan, so will just have to take it easy til then and see how it goes. she didn't say i couldn't run.

Note

i think that was the most tiring week of my life. There were times i got up to do the evening session and i'd just lose track of myself mid sentence i was so tired. a lot of fun, but so much effort put into it.
a real shame we were short on everything apart from the number of kids. too few coaches, helpers, vans, organisers. 70 kids is just too many to keep track of.
still, got through the week with only one casualty, and we didnt leave any kids out at maps, that we've realised, yet.
i'm off to sleep for a week now.
