Orienteering race (nordic tour 3rd stage) 58:00 [5]

chasing start middle. only had 13mins to catch up on simone (not all time behind, she got time bonuses for winning previoius legs, as if the top girls needed it!)
had tess starting 2s behind me and the other brits bout a min-2min back. zenia min and a half in front. tessa got no1 bout 10s ahead of me and stayed that distance ahead through most of the course even though we had splits and took diff routes!
made a mess of no.3 as a lot of girls did, bad route choice to 6 and stupid mistake at 22 (i think it was 22) just as i thought id catch zenia tessa ida and a russian up! stupid!
reovertook the one swede who started behind me through the last couple of controls. 39th fastest time which as i started in 39th was fair i spose. it will come...

Orienteering 45:00 [3]

model for the third leg of the world cup tomorrow. not so much the fast to very fast forest that was stated in the bulletin! lots to push through and 3 times i went within 5m of the control but didnt see it with the undergrowth! so will have to slow down in the circle tomorrow. could be some very large mistakes from some people so will just try and keep it clean. got zenia starting 1.20 ahead of me in the chasing start so will try and see her out there :) dont think i can catch the 13odd mins on simone though

Orienteering (nordic tour stage 2) 17:30 [5]

again, average race which was disappointing. missed out on qual by 11s, but atleast i can see qualifying which is reassuring. wavered on no.1, just got mislead by the curve in the out of bounds and ended off the straight line. not a bad mistake but would have lost bout 20s which is unforgivable in this competition. then blew i think it was 12. i saw the underpass to the left and was going to take it but took the wrong exit from the control to use it, so had to go right. but then had to go around the top of the underpass at the end. 30s atleast.
so yeah, not good enough to qualify, far too much time lost.
wouldnt have made it past the quarters anyway i think it was a very runners course and the mass start wouldnt have suited my orienteering. would have been awesome fun though.
watched the semis and finals in gamla stan in the evening. they really could have done better spectator wise, they had the big screen but apart from that no gps or anything.

model for the sprint. was an awesomely set course. unfortunately it was set by the guy who did the semi and final, so not really applicable to the qual

Note

watched jukola, then caught the ferry over to stockholm. puts the interislander to shame! we had the cheapest berth though, which was on the lowest deck, below the car level and below the waterline. luckily i was way too tired to think bout what would happen if the boat sunk...
