Orienteering race (NZ middle dist champs) 39:39 [5]

Not the race i was looking for! Two reasonable sized mistakes and plenty of hesitation and smaller mistakes.
Wasn't careful enough 1-2 when i hit the detailed stuff and went off on a parallel error, lost just over a minute according to winsplits but it felt like way more! was a bit shaky on 3 and pretty much through to 8 was still hesitant and just not running my natural race. begun my comeback from 9-11, but then fell apart on the shortest easiest leg of the course at 12! lost 30s there, then was going alright again til 15 when i didnt read my descriptions and spent 1.5 mins literally standing 2m above the control wondering where it was! caned it in to the finish in anger from there.
could have been 2nd if i wasnt stupid at 15, but not sure i could have beaten Penny on the day, she just had a mean clean run :)

Running race (NZ sprint champs) 16:14 [5]

made sure i was into the map on no.1, the scale was a bit difficult to get into, and i wouldnt have got 3 as cleanly if i hadnt seen lara punching it. lost up to 30s on 4, went up the bank towards the track but then despite being within 30m of it i missed the track and lara and i went bush bashing before eventually popping out on it further down!
caught amber at 7 despite hitting the wrong reentrant. still had lara right on my tail and couldnt shake either of them off the rest of the course. caught georgia and sarah at 13 so was a whole bunch of us which made it hard to get ahead on the short sharp legs. was just breaking away when i hit 15 too far to the right, so finished with the bunch.
so 3 smallish wobbles but clean enough around the rest for the win

Running 23:00 [3]

a light yog around the metropolis of mosgiel. was a bit dark so i was too scared to wander far off the main road, went through some schools that would make a sweet sprint map though

Note
(rest day)

give the legs a break after sunday and before next weekend. stayed at home marking all day. don't know if it was the marking or the lack of run but i was in a shite mood by evening! So i should really keep running every day me thinks or i may lose all my friends!

Running race (porirua traverse) 1:56:12 [4]

filled in as the running leg in a team with a couple of rita's stepdads mates, was stoked to find a team as its an awesome run and you cant do it any other time as it crosses private land!

so started off at bishop viard college. left transition exactly the same time as jamie bw, who'd done the cycle leg too. ran together the couple of km to elson holiday park where you enter the bush and start the long slog up colonial knob. couple of hundred m into bush jamie's legs cramped up epically, man he was screaming! (like a girl :P ) I hesitated a bit, cos he sounded like he was in agony, and then kept going...
passed a couple of guys on the long steps section, and caught up to a woman towards the top. Had a quick convo bout x-talons, and i expressed awe at the pace she'd done up the hill after doing the bike, then passed her :)
Running into the southerly along the tops, Jamie caught me up again. I apologised for abandoning him and asked where the girl had gone who was right behind me. Turns out just after i commended her on her pace she stopped for a good spew, oops! Ran together again til we got to the style where you cross onto the farmland. Jamie decided it would be a good idea to hurdle the fence....I was bout to tell him it was a bad idea with his cramp...but too late. He hit the top wire and collapsed in a heap, then jerked to life as his leg went into spasms! I tried to refrain from laughing i really did, honest!
after hesitating, again, i left him, again.
Ripped it up down the spur, and kept running up the other side, along and down to the coast. passed a couple more women who werent as used to that sort of terrain.
kept a decent pace up round the coast. was not impressed to find they'd replaced the bit where you have to clamber over rocks and occasionally wade through water with a long haul up a paved road just to run back down the other side on another road! Still, kept the pace up to whiteria park where i caught a couple more guys who'd passed me earlier. needless to say they were unimpressed to see me again :(
looked at my watch for first time in ages to see i had 7mins to break the women's run record. Decided i could fully do that, so pushed the pace down the track to the harbour. then hit the flat at the end, legs did not like that! still kept pushing it, and i believe i was near sprinting at the end. It sure as hell felt like it anyway! went past a guy and it was as if he was just standing still, that felt good! Turned into transition, passed over to trevor on the kayak leg and stopped my watch. 1min over the record. crap.

will just have to run faster next time. (3mins faster, as the only woman faster than me managed to lower the record damn it!)

Running warm up/down 11:00 [3]
