Got out for an evening walk to PUkekura. Have had some grumpy lymph nodes in my groin since Friday. Dunno what they're grumpy about, but running or biking isn't a very inviting prospect at the moment.

down one valley to the foreshore, along to the bridge and Rotomanu, then back and up another valley. Lovely morning for it, and 100+ other bubbles agreed that the foreshore was a nice place for local exercise.

Broke free from the house, was getting some cabin fever after 4 days. Bit like the week before my surgery in that I'm fit and able but confined, while everyone else goes about normal life (for now).
Anyway, drove up to the edge of the national park and went for a walk up to mangakotukutuku falls. Lovely forest and really serene waterfall. Managed 10x1min jogging along the way. Progress yo

However, I'm now in voluntary self isolation thanks to my weekend in Melbourne 1.5weeks ago. And the physio not told me to run for atleast another week. So...I guess I'll just work??

as per type, made it safely down all the rocks and scree, then went for a trip and slide on the gravel 4wd track...was too busy looking at the nice single track on the next ridge over and regretting my route choice.

Finally playing it sensible and not running.

Did commentary instead. Good fun.
Oh, and helped the kiddies starting the novice course, then walked around the course and collected up the lost ones :)

Both the sprint courses today looked good fun. A crazy bush sprint in an old quarry, which i reckon would have been right up my alley. And then a sprint relay with mad splitting. As in, I got the map 10mins early, and went and sat in the terrain and watched, and I was super confused.

WRE/MSW race 1
Leg was grumbly but OK prestart. Enjoyable course, twisting around school buildings, before some longer route choice legs. Happy with my routes for the main part. Then we hit the mud towards the end. Who know Australia had mud?! I lost 18s on the 2nd last control, and you know what? I blame mud (and bad route choice, but exacerbated by mud). A comfortable 44s win in the end, but paid the price with my leg. It's not happy now.

groin/hip flexor was grumpy right from the get go. Ironically, it felt better in the warmdown than at any other time, but still fairly shite. No more racing for the weekend, time to be sensible.

Orienteering 17:00 [4] 3.3 km (5:09 / km)

Grumpy lizzie with the sore leg got even grumpier when she ran straight into the course setter's trap on #1 and lost 30s. I don't care if you put a map example in the bulletin, you shouldn't purposefully set the first leg with what looks like the best route choice (spoiler alert, it wasn't) through the newly mapped confusing AF multi level section. The routechoice decision needed to be made at the start triangle, and the sensible ones were the ones who saw the multilevel bit, and rather than understanding it, just decided "NOPE", and went around.
The rest of the course was pretty cool, and super complex. Never felt you got much speed up (not that I could). I lost another 30s on #4, when I foolishly went through the confusing bit again (I take full blame for this one), and 15s later on when I didn't check descriptions and went to the fire stairs, rather than the little path behind them.
Otherwise I was slowly gaining time on Bridget and Tash after my first booboos. Ah well.

Best moment was disturbing two very amorous 15yos who were having an R rated make out session on a bench. Unfortunately the bench had a control on it, right behind the pair. And that SI needed checking :D I kindly advised them that 200 odd of their peers might be running through soon.

Afterwork sprint. Got beaten by karl by 3s this week. But lost atleast that thanks to two kamikaze kids, who I reckon karl paid off to slow me down...

Wu to the toilets at the beach, warm down incl an interval checking the routechoice 2-3, which we all got wrong. Down and around was 10s faster than up and over.

Stopped at knottingly for a jog on he way home. Explored northern blocks to see what run ability was like. Mostly good but a couple of blocks needed long socks (which I forgot this weekend. So tiptoed my way through)
